    That;s not all that unbelieveable. I think A LOT of people have short memories and forget even with suspension, chassis, and tire improvement how LARGE A CONTRIBUTION electronic driver aids have made to super cars being able to be comfortably driven to 9/10ths of its performance envelope by the masses.

    Even through the mid-90's a supercar would bite even an experience driver in the ass faster than you know what if they got it just a bit wrong. 

    It wasn't until the late 90's when cars had more than just ABS, that supercars became "safe" for drivers who didn't own a supercar before or weren't overly experienced.

    But to drive my point home - think about the Carerra GT.

    Here was a modern supercar that was absolutely devoid of driver aids. How many times did you hear about experienced drivers getting caught out in that car at even a moderate pace. Worse, how many dead CGT driver stories did you hear about ... I started calling it the Porsche Widow Maker.

    it shows how bad drivers have gotten if anything. I'm not a fan of anything electronic let alone AWD.

    indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

    WOW... amazing how big the difference is.

    But let me tell you, thats exactly why we get bored driving i.e. a Carrera S and we are looking more and more for faster cars!

    first its pay MB a boatload of money for a great sound, now its looking for more power because driver aids take away the un-predictable thrill and challenge  ............... maybe a nice 928 is the way to go.

     if you want a fast luxury cruiser.. The weight is against you 1,500kg for the grand tourer i seem the remember.

    I was referencing the sound of the SLS and its price tag combined with the fact that chasing more powerful cars with the same drivers aids will not result in more fun but end in financial folly.

     

    If you were referring to the 928 as some luxo barge, I thought I cleared that up in the past. My car is only 3100 lbs. It is so low and so wide that it handles like a go cart. Seroiusly. I have never upset it w/o the use of the gas peddle.

    928 is one of the best handling vehicles ever built, never was some merc SL type vehicle though it is luxurious.

     

    Updated with appropriately wide wheels and tires, its like a go-kart with glue.
