It could be Detroit, I get mixed messages. Press release should be available soon.
The X5 LCI will be announced in Detroit, so maybe the US is better suited for presenting a new SUV than Europe.

Yep. Very similar to the Panamera. No, don't expect the next 911 generation to look the same (just to avoid speculation 
).
The goal was to make the Cayenne look:
1. less heavy
2. less massive
3. less aggressive
With the availability of the Hybrid from day one of next generation introduction, this will also portray Porsche and the new Cayenne as having a "green consience". Very clever but I'm not sure people will buy this. Maybe this is also the reason Porsche didn't raise the power of the Turbo over 500 HP (imagine the announcement in the press: "even more powerful Turbo engine for the Cayenne...") but lowered the weight to obtain a performance gain.
Another "trick" is also the tranny ratio, which lets the Cayenne accelerate faster but probably not so fast at higher speeds. Very similar to the new 997 Turbo FL. Top speed should also stay the same.
I suppose that a next Turbo S will be introduced only after the Cayenne proves to be "accepted" by the publich and the media. Any extremely powerful Cayenne version could actually contradict Porsche portrayal of a "greener conscience", so it might not happen too soon OR it happens very unspectacular without larger media announcements.
I actually like it how BMW is handling the whole X5/X6 M media presence: in most reviews and ads, you can only see the X6 M, not the X5 M. They want to keep the X5 model line out of "trouble", just in case public opinion turns against the X6. This may sound stupid but judging the public opinion/perception of the Cayenne, I think this is a very clever way to handle things.

I can confirm it, the interior is VERY classy and Panamera-derived. Both, the Cayenne and the Panamera share more parts than most people will ever be aware of.

The new Porsche interior are excellent, perhaps the nav screen could be a tad bigger, it's size looks all wrong next to the giant airvents.
Now that I am giving up on the Panamera, this new Cayenne could be my ticket to the new interiors.
But then again if I do that I would be violating my own principle of not giving Piech more money.
Damn.

What has "poor" Piech done to you ? You are aware that he is part of the Porsche family, his mother was a Porsche.
As long as the products and their prices are OK, I wouldn't care.

IMO Piech is the greatest personality in the auto industry sector in the latter half of the 20th century. He has left his mark in all companies that he was involved with. Just look through his CV.
Moreover, his private life has been rather turbulent which although disapproved by many, it is another side-effect of an energetic and leading personality.
