    Very nice video.

Very German no-nonsense approach both the man and the car.

Re: 997.2 Turbo vids by Autobild & with Durheimer

Thanks Kreso. Very positive review especially coming from Autocar!

For me this says it all :

"You’d likely find a more powerful and faster car over a wide and smooth surfaced race track. But on normal roads – the sort you and I encounter every day with varying surfaces, odd cambers and all variety of hidden surprises like those served up at the car’s launch in Portugal this week, I seriously doubt any rival – not even a Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo or Porsche Carrera GT - would come close to matching it for sheer pace or outright dynamic prowess for any length of time."

Just for this reason the new Turbo is my kind of car, a super fast no-nonsense machine for the real world

Re: 997.2 Turbo vids by Autobild & with Durheimer

    interesting from the autocar's article

"...Owing to the increased capacity and higher compression ratio, Porsche has actually decided to dial back boost pressure a touch, from a previous 1.0 to a nominal 0.8 bar, in the interests of added driveability. The result is even keener throttle response and a level of flexibility you really have to experience to believe"

    very very very interesting! Smiley

the tuner will  like it very much! SmileySmiley

Re: 997.2 Turbo vids by Autobild & with Durheimer

Problem is that the first rumours are that porsche is having overheating issues with this new engine. Was told this by a tuner (he did not have any personal gain from this..) but even he did not know whether to believe it.. A few interesting facts are that a. Porsche is using bigger ICs for this engine, b. With lower boost (even though the expansion intake is used here I believe?), and finally cm. The new turbo is really fast up to 200kms and then loses that advantage and then some.. until 300kms. High speed acceleration is impacted by overheat issues (as most of us tuning freaks know too well) so I don't know if all of the above are related somehow. Tobby was also saying that P is trying to get 550hp from this new engine for the GT2 and has problems. So unless this is an EGT issue, which can be easily improved by tuners with a more free flowing exhaust, then this is not good news for modding. I hope all of the above are just urban myths usually assiciated with new models..

sorry i really doubt PORSCHE  will make the 997.2TT slower than 997TT!

    its imposible....

i bet in same conditions the 997.2TT  will be  3-5 sec faster at the 0 -300km/h than the 997TT

Never been a fan of aerokits.

The white Turbo looks delicious though. The "Exterior Mirror Attachment Point Finishers Painted Exterior Color" option looks nice too, and I haven't seen many Turbos with that option actually. I wonder why.

Also the headlight washers are in exterior colour. These touches look very nice in some colours (like white). In some other colours they are a waste of money IMO.

All Porsches get the race-style paddle shifts, as options, starting in January.

I wouldn't sacrifice the MF wheel for the paddles. The current interface suits me fine. Never encountered a problem in almost a year and 15.000kms of use.

Tell me what MF function do you use most oftenly? Volume control maybe? That is my case with all MF steering wheels.

IMHO new paddle sport steering wheel is much better option. I really wanted to like switches(aka puddles) but, I can not force myself to love them. You bought your car when paddle steering wheel was not an option. Just for your info-Porsche expect around 80% of future PDK buyers(of 997.2 series and Cayman/Boxster) to choose paddle steering wheel instead of all versions of switches steering wheel.

Remember a word that W.Rohrl actually worked on design on switches steering wheel? Interesting enough he said at Estoril:"...that Porsche is finally offering true paddles sport steering wheel which is ergonomically much better then the ones with rocker swithces for changing gears." Hmm...

Re: 997.2 Turbo vids by Autobild & with Durheimer

    Also for Panamera?

I use the telephone a lot when I am in the car especially in traffic and the MF helps a lot. Also when using audio changing source and radio stations on the move is very easy (and safer) with MF.

    I cannot see why they don't a offer a paddle MF wheel Smiley I think it's marketing again: MF+buttons=comfort; paddles w/o MF=sporty.

Porsche limit buyers' choice in this way, for no reason.
