These engines have been proven to last with this power time and time again.  No issues here.

There´s alot of "Love" into this project, congrats for that, always nice to see such enthusiast, time and passion droped into such fine car, it must be a real beast on the road.

But are you really serious when you say that this engine has +900Hp without any internal mods and still can be realible??????!!!!!!  Smiley Sorry to say but this doesn´t give you much credibility.

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Here is the Mustang Dyno chart directly from the only US tuned 997tt in the UK:

    So 727hp and 750ftlbs (thats1020NM)

This car was tested for acceleration by a reputable magazine and managed 100-250kph in 14.75s

    For reference Ruf RT600 takes 14s and RT12 (650PS) takes 12s

    Cargraphics 100kg lighter 624PS/827NM took 12.7s

To be fair, I believe this one is going to the Texas mile so its 900hp should see it well into the 210+mph zone - can't wait to have my cynicism squashed....

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Drivetrain loss on a Mustang Dyno is 20%.

The car did the numbers you have seen on our dyno.  The drag and 60-130mph times will be proven next.  Would I drive on the street at 1.5bar with 109oct?  Probably not.

Euro Tuners and US Tuners are well different.  Cars over here have been proven day in and day out to make 800 crank horsepower on stock internals all day long.

I am not here to fight haters, my numbers will speak for themselves.  BTW, very nice GT2.

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

I'm no hater - and I have yet to meet any on here!  We've got some characters for sure, but I wouldn't use the word "hater."

Can anyone substantiate a loss percentage on the Turbo drivetrain?  I have no experience on this at all, but 20% seems a little high.

Where does that figure come from?  Obviously the 4-wheel drive adds more loss, but...??

Why does adding HP to the engine increase the rotationally resistive loads anyway?  I think the losses should be constants, not scalar.  Think about it: why would doubling the power of the engine double the power losses??

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Mustang All Wheel Drive dynos are one of the lowest reading dyno around.  We have had almost every type of car on them for the past 4 years.  Mustang drive train loss is about 20%.  2wd car is about 10-15%.  I can justify this with baseline of stock cars.

For example, the stock 997TT did 387 to the wheels.  That is about a 18% drivetrain loss.

Here is a 2007 US STI baseline.  These cars come with 300HP to the crank.  It made 232awhp.  This is about 25%.

    Here is a baseline run of a 2001 996 Turbo.  323awhp.  This is a 25% drivetrain loss.

Here is a Supercharged E46 BMW M3 baseline and after.  The baseline made 253rwhp.

I am just going off numbers guys....

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Just because the losses on a stock vehicle are X% does not mean that increasing the HP of the engine scales the losses according to that same percentage.

You have rotational resistance in the car - transmission, driveshaft, fans, pumps, alternator, compressors, what-have-you.  These do not necessarily increase just because you up the HP of the engine.

Think about it:  If I remove the AC from an otherwise stock vehicle, the losses decrease while the measured HP at the wheel will go up - yet the HP of the engine is unchanged.  If I add larger turbos, increase air flow, and re-map the engine more aggressively, the losses will remain unchanged, measured HP will go up, so the loss percentage will go down.

You have almost doubled the output wheel measured HP:  have you doubled the water pumps, compressors, alternators, and other parasitic loads?  Have you doubled the friction in the transmission and the drive shaft?  I suspect these are the lion's share of the HP losses between the engine and the wheels.  So if the stock losses are 18%, the losses in your car should be roughly 10%, not 20%.  Seems to me...

Others on here know more than I do though.

    Still an impressive package though!!

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Took the car drag racing. Was a beautiful 80F. I have the perfect car, great weather, and I suck at launching car... Driver Wanted!

Best ET was 11.16. Best Trap was 134.37mph. At 135mph they kick you off unless you have a NHRA license. Comparing times on this site and DragTimes.com, this is a 10.60 car. Soon... Enjoy the video montage.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zRMK-p8tWk

I also got some PBox numbers. Not excited, but they are decent considering I have never done this before. I expect a faster 60-130mph. I need advice on gear to start in etc. 0-60 and 0-100mph were good expect the terrible launches.

    0-60mph - 3.76sec.  Goal is 3.5sec

    0-100mph - No Goal

    60-130mph - 7.14sec.  Goal is 6.50sec

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Nice numbers, Dan, but based on your trap speed (relatively independent of ET) in the 1/4, with your car's weight, this suggests you are making less than 650HP at the wheels or less than 775HP at the crank for an AWD.  I'm sure though that it is still a blast to drive!

BUT I wouldn't trust the stock engine hardware to handle that much power for long, unless you tuned it for low early and peak torque-which to me obviates the point of this kind of tuning.   Better to strengthen the engine for longevity even though it adds cost to the tuning so you can't advertise a low-price/big power upgrade.  You will find that this is a fairly sophisticated forum whose members usually own the cars they post about here (unlike certain USA-based forums, e.g., the one that starts with the number 6... ) and drive the c--- out of them too, including at high and fairly sustained speeds, since many members have access to these roads in Europe, not just drag strips and race tracks.  So there is a healthy dose of skepticism that members here have of this kind of tuning.

    Anyway, welcome aboard.

Sorry, but I don't understand that statement?  Smiley

Drivetrain loss is specific to a drivetrain, that is, to the car model tested on the roller dyno, and not to the type of dyno used.  Smiley

This does more to undermine the figure of 20% drivetrain loss quoted above than it does to support it.  Smiley

Using a factor of 1.19 to convert rolling road dyno power output to the equivalent flywheel power figure would compensate for a drivetrain loss 15.9%. If the drivetrain loss was thought to be 20%, this factor would have to be 1.25.

I like the video, thank you! The sound is very nice and the times impressive.

May I ask at what revs you planned to launch and upshifts?

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Gonna try to launch at 4500 RPM next time.  Thanks for the comments.

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

I´ve read just by curiosity this thread and not all of the posts. But seen the last video and is one small  think that bothers me. You see, I appreciate all the work done and passion for this car, even if I´m a big fan of as standard as it is possible Porsches, but I think Porsche is more about handling, and ride and how it goes around a track not about pure straight line acceleration. Yes it is about acceleration also... but not the first think that Porsche has in mind when developing their cars. So I don´t want no to respecto the work done for this car, but I will prefer to see it how it behaves on a track.... being USA, Laguna Seca maybe?  Just a tought.....

I am a big track driver too, you can see that by my other cars - www.vividracing.com/forums/project-cars

I have always focused on handling, that is why I have JIC Cross coilovers, Agency Power front and rear sway bars, Agency Power front sway bar links, Agency Power rear control arms, and Agency Power rear toe links.

We hit 196mph at the Texas Mile. Figured out the mishaps and that 4mph would have been reachable. Oh well next time! Check out our Texas Mile Video at www.youtube.com/vividracing View all our Photos Here – http://www.vividracing.com/forums/gallery/browseimages.php?c=477

Thanks guys, will hit up some other sections shortly...

JIC is my suspension, JIC Cross coilovers.

Why we did not hit 200mph..

    • had a left over mix of 100 oct and 109 oct not just straight 109 oct
    • boost would spike at 1.5 then hold at 1.3, needed it to hold at 1.5
    • AEM injection kit had to much water, needed more meth
    • rear bumper needs a diffuser as it acts like a giant parachute!

After hearing your car I thought of Tubi race exhaust but when I went back and looked at the specs I saw the JIC, so is that the name of the company or is it short for something?

RE- Your comments above - how about the wing? Do you think that could also reduce MPH at those speeds? I see it makes a significant difference, reduction in speed on other cars w/ large wings. Look at the Lambo LP670-4 SuperVeloce, they quote one top speed for one wing 212mph & for the optional/ larger wing they quote a different top speed - 209mph. Great for planting the rear of the car at 100-150mph but at faster speeds it may be the difference between 196 & 200.

Even the front bumper could be slowing you down too once you're up towards 200, great for more air on the track but for top speed/ straight mile runs it probably isn't helping, yes?

I have a JIC exhaust, but for racing, I use the Agency Power Straight Pipes.  No muffler, no cats.  The wing was actually removed for the Mile run, see pic above.  I agree that the stock aero kit would be better for performance.  Unfortunately I cannot be all go and no show :)

I didnt notice that from the vid, when it came off the trailer I saw the wing & then you were doing like 200mph!!!! so I missed it..... Now I see it gone in the pics. Smiley

So for the run that beautiful sound was the JIC or the Agency Pipes?

That was the Agency Power straight pipes.  We are jigging them next week to launch soon.

Re: Some Pics of my 800HP Flat Blue 997 Turbo

Pretty trivial considering to all the Mod's across the board but do you have any plans for the rear lamps? With the window tint plus the black wheels a set of blacked out rear lamps contrasted w/ the flat blue would look good imo. If you went with an all red set & had them painted which is what I plan to do w/ my all red pair next.
