Thanks for the scan. The exhaust "unqiue design" suggests it's different from the PSE, is that correct? The numbers seem to suggest that the X51 would not be noticable by the "seat of the pants".

Most probably it will be the same as the 911 Sport Classic exhaust, which from the video it sounds very good.
IMO the extra HP and the engine characteristics will be appreciated by people doing 250+km/h on the Autobahnen.

Actually NO. X51 on 997.2S models use unique exhaust with two double exhaust pipes.

So, there is the standard S exhaust, the PSE, the X51exhaust and the Sport Classic Exhaust?

PSE
X51
Pipes look the same as on XLS option.
Very interesting. Thanks! I am satisified w/ the sound of the PSE on my car, but the Sport Classic sounded even better. However, the cost of X51, whether factory or Tequipment, is difficult to justify on a cost basis for the HP and of course, impossible to justify for improved sound alone!

Reginos great post, thanks for sharing
But I wouldn´t agree with you, I believe the power increse will be felt from 2500rpm up. The car is clearly faster to 160Kph.

Tom1 congratulations on your new Porsche. Care to share any more details regarding its specifications? I know you are still in the break in period but do you have any impressions of your X51 compared to a standard S?

Tom1:
Last Friday I took delivery of my X 51 - it came with the PSE exhaust pipes
997.2 X51, great car! Manual or PDK?
Is the X51 exhaust the same as the PSE option on other 997.2 ? Can you check and let us know please!

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts
Dave, many thanks for your congrats. Till now have only driven 200 km and reved to 5k only. I've got a manual Coupe with sportchassis, no sunroof etc as I wanted a daily driver as near as possible to a GT3. My revious car was similar speced but without X51 (355 hp). I can tell you that I got the impression to drive a completely different car. I feel more torque and the engine revs much quicker. Sometimes I got frightened how quick the car jumped forward.
Tom what a fabulous car! You captured the best of both worlds IMHO, practical DD w/ near GT3 performance. The Sport PASMw/ LSD and X51 are an excellent marriage. It's interesting but not unexpected that X51 comes w/ the standard PSE., I believe that was the case w/ the previous 997.1 X51. It seems that the 200K Euros Sport Classic has X51 w/ a slightly modified exhaust which sounds extremely good on the internet video clips.

Dave, many thanks for your compliments. Will shortly post some fotos. I'm satisfied with the sound of the PSE - not as loud as the the one of my previous car and not so much backfire but very strong and powerful. Will post my impression of the car's performance after break in period.
I was surprised that despite the better accelaration with PDK, from 0 to 60mph, when it comes to 50 to 75mph the PDK always lags behind the manual. I wonder if the gearing is different, or if in the real world the PDK has less flexibility than the manual. Does anyone know?

It´s 0.3 sec. faster than the regular one, please re-read the above pages.
pcosta:
I was talking about the 50 to 75 mph in 5th gear. If you take the Carrera S with powerkit, it is 5.6 sec with manual and 6.1 with PDK.
Does the PDK feels slower than manual in real world use?
NO way.
Thing is totally different since in real world in gear acceleration like 80-120km/h do not mean anything for gearbox like PDK. Why? When you use Sport or Sport Plus D modes(full auto) PDK is always changing the gears is fastest way possible depending on your throttle input, road speed etc. Am I implying that PDK works very best in Auto mode? YES. BUT, manual mode is excellent as well.
For example 997.2 CS PDK is faster on the autobahn then my R8 V8 manual in all situations.
Another thing-Porsche will change its data in new brochure very soon.
Example-data from 997.2 Turbo brochure:
Manual version 80-120km/h(5.gear) 3.4s(with Sport on)
PDK version 80-120km/h(torque acceleration): 2.1s(with Sport Plus on)

A "50 to 75 mph in 5th gear" figure is just a throwback to the days when most sports cars would have had a manual 5-speed box, and is now irrelevant in this context.
