those real world shots are repulsive. Hard to believe the same company makes some of the nicest cars.

You are only allowed to post comments if they relate to the 928 
...... something along the lines of......
"this thing sucks but at least someone in Stuttgart has the cojones to look back at past glories and put a new spin on them. Trouble is it should have been the boys across town dusting down the 928 and adding PDK, direct injection, 600bhp +, a new interior... " etc etc

Thank me in a year when you come to your senses and I saved you whatever this thing costs!
They'll be selling for over list for a while here Tom so I may as well turn a profit if I can get an early car ....... it'll help recoup a small portion of the substantial losses I've made on previous cars

All the original 300SL details are attractive, the large cenger grille and the side and hood intakes. The C-pillar aft simply does not fit w/ the rest of the car and is not attractive. Seems to me that buyer acceptance of this one aspect of the styling will make or break sales.

I'm betting a lot will change their mind once they see this car in the metal. It'll be interesting to revisit peoples' views next year once cars start appearing on the road. A similar situation is starting to happen with the Ferrari California as more people get to see it in real life and not in 2d on PC screens or magazine forums.

Well, I will not change my opinion. Did you check out SLS dimensions? Car is bigger then California and probably the biggest new sportscar on the market. Also that very small door windows.... Engine that is as old tech as possible(engine is in fact nothing special at all)... Full specs SLS cost around €200K in Germany. For the same money you can have 997.2 Turbo PDK(full specs) and new Golf R(full specs). I know what I will choose...

There is always going to be something cheaper and faster to be honest. I remember the hoopla about the Nissan GTR and also the Audi R8 V10 on the boards and how they offered more performance and newer tech than more expensive rivals (Gen 1 turbo being a particular target of this type of criticism). The SLS is something different entirely and I can understand that it won't appeal to all and that's fine by me. We all like different things and it's great that we have such choice 
I doubt many prospective buyers of an SLS would ever consider your alternative pairing in all honesty though Kreso

I really like this car; inside and out.
It has very nice details from 1954 Gullwing and and I especially fall in love with the frnt facia eventhough I'm not a big fan of Mercedes.
The engine is maybe old tach but it is enough in terms of power, sound and acceleration. Only thing I dislike is the retractable rear spoiler which IMO spoils the car's lines.
I would have bought it if I had enough cash to buy it as a 4th or 5th car in my garage; after an R8 V10 and a F458 italia for example .
Will it be a limited production, does anyone know??

Iain, just this... On my market potential buyers of SLS are very interesting people(those from area know what people I am talking about). Belive me-you definitely do not belong in that group... And that is very good fact indeed.

The SLS certainly is bringing to surface a lot of strong opinions, and I think it will be a successful model. In general, I like the styling; it's very much a Mercedes, and I'm happy that Merc is moving away from the German "bottom-heavy" styling of BMW and Audi (I like my cars like my women -svelte and voluptuous but not bottom heavy). That said, I do find odd the C-pillar, which looks like the silohuette of a top-up S2000. I think I would like more a window there, as is present on the original gullwing 300SL.

As Ive said before, I didnt like the first pictures, but after I have seen the car and its dimensions in reality I really like it. Its a gorgeous looking car, different as anything else. Its really growing on me, but the price tag from starting 177.000,- € rounds it up to an equipped car for 200.000,- is just to much.
