those wheels are a must for that car. they don't look half as good on the 16M

funky light show on that first 1.

There should be a bunch of Paris style outdoor cafe's along that road outside the gate for people to be entertained by the sights and sounds going by.

    Thanks for the video!

The California has better presence than the red(430 or disguised 458?) and black (458) mid-engined cars in the video.

Pity it's coupe-cabrio this car. If it was available as a fixed top I would start saving for it!

    Sounds awesome there.

There is a small cafe directly across the street,  right where the person is standing taking the video.  Adjacent to that there's another one outside but behind the small "Planet Hotel" that's above a Ferrari store which is also right across the street from that gate................ From where the person taking the vid is standing to the left about a 1/4 mile you can have a look at Fiorano & the sounds at the Hotel coming from the track are incredible. Funny but the video is what it's like right at the gate a lot, you don't know where to look there's so many interesting Ferrari's roaming around.

View from the Hotel balcony of the same spot in the vid:

Re: new video of the 458

Its amassing how those two cars are alike and jet appear so different!

On a side note that is some serious Ferrari traffic overload in those vids. I be they have accidents between each other.

And the new 458 definitely sounds way better than the feeble 430 idle/low rew sound.

Me. I will wait to see the undisguised real thing but it looks very much like a 360/430. In fact send all 3 past that gate area at speed and you would hard pressed to tell them apart.

    Nice pics above.

Ferrari has always known that sound is the key to the thrill of owning a sportscar.

Re: new video of the 458

FWIW, the red car in the video is NOT a 458. it is a 430 or 430 Scud. Yep, it can be confusing.

Car is totally different from F430 in every technical aspect. Engine is new development, longer wheelbase, new brake system, further developed E-Diff3 etc.

Unlike most of you I am very, very satisfied with 458 Italia as final product.

To repeat myself from other thread: It is truly great design that merges modern elements from 21st Centuary with Ferrari Heritage. I have interesting file in PDF about 458 Italia(more then 40 pages) and car is indeed something special...

Re: new video of the 458

...and little observation from me. I saw that many Ferrari enthusiasts at Ferrarichat do not like 458 Italia design(now, that they saw the real pics)... OK.

That means that those(like me and several members here) that do like 458 Italia will get it sooner! I have to ask what did they all expected?

Something totally different? Do not like new 458? Do not buy it. Simple as that...

Re: new video of the 458

In fact in the latest pictures the design doesn't look that successful.

    Examples from another thread below:

    new04jpg.jpg

    new01jpg.jpgIInew03jpg.jpg

In these pictures it looks too toy-ish and not muscular enough for a Ferrari. Also the design of the rear shoulder and wheel arch in the first picture as well as the upward folds of the front lid in the second picture leave a lot to be desired visually IMO. I also find the rear as seen in the last picture too cartoonish for a Ferrari.

Of course we all have different tastes!

BUT what I say is based on pictures so the jury is still out for me.

No funky light show - I guess it's the LED effect (depending on the cam used for filming they look like flashing lights even when they don't flash at all in real life).

Have a look at this vid (jump to 1:52) - looks like a defect brake light  - of course new GT3s don't come with defect brake lights Smiley

I see it, so you are saying that is how LED's show up on filmed video.

    Learn something new everyday.

Saw an audi A5 the last few days with its daytime LED strip on in the headlight area. Nice effect and the A5 is a very nice looking car.

Re: new video of the 458

I like the window effect (see below) This film reminds me of an early Peter Sellers Pink Panther movie where cars were going around a rotary from every direction and crossing each others path over and over as an old man watched.

It seems like a lunchtime whistle blew and all the ferrari employees scrambled to grab any car in sight and they all take a free ride on their break.

RE: Your prior post - The 430 didn't share a single engine part w/ the 360. New brake system too but look how similar the cars were..

To answer your question above - Yes, "totally different". The picture above is just surprising to me, all along the 430 was supposed to be a evolution of the 360 but the 430's replacement was going to be something entirely new. I was expecting to see something that was VERY different not just "technically" but looks as it's going down the road,,,,,,,,,,as people here have pointed out unless it's guys like us, I doubt many people could even tell it's a different car, the overall shape is so similar, it's not like when you see a 560 & a 430. I was expecting to be wow'd but the design is just a little different, not something that looks like the next level of car, it could have even come BEFORE the 430 and that wouldn't be surprising. I was expecting an obvious next level car.

I haven't read anything at F-chat but guess I agree for now... There's a few styling aspects of it that just don't look right. The hood is really bothersome to me. In person maybe it looks great, who knows. I love the looks of the 430's rear, the 458 look really weird,, it will probably grow on me too. That happens.

I didn't say I hate the car or anything, just thinking out loud.  You're completely happy already, I'd rather see/drive the car before making any final judgment. In the end I'll probably buy one but to be honest, I'll be at my Ferrari dealer tomorrow for a service & don't intend on speaking with my sales manager about getting one right away even though I know he has me down for a car.  I'm just not sold yet on letting my 430 go.  I could be one of the first owners but it's just not at all important to me, I have a car I love to drive. Dunno but maybe I'll wait for the 2nd year after the factory has the new production process down pat, see what options come out, what works, what doesn't, what colors combo's look good, etc. etc. I'm sure it will be a great performer, I'm just not in a rush after these pics, like I was...

Re: new video of the 458

    Thanks.

I was sent the email yesterday from Ferrari.com - Ownersso I saw additional  pics :

    http://speciali.ferrari.com/458italia/index_en.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=en&utm_content=h...

    http://speciali.ferrari.com/458italia/index_en.html

It's really hard to look at the PS pics, because they've taken all the depth out of the pics.

Maybe with the vents more hidden on the 458, the 430 looks more aggressive to me.... I'm sure I'll lust for the car once I see & drive it.

    KresoF1:

So what I noticed in the video was that the guy said the front winglets move based on air pressure to give more or less downforce.

LOL b/c this is exactly what Ferrari F1 was accused of doing with their rear wing elements on Schumi and Iceman's car. They said they were building in "flex" that would flatten out the wings at high speed to reduce drag and give more speed in the straights and as soon as the car slowed, the air pressure would lessen and the wing would flex back to give additional downforce.
