It's a racecar which only by chance has a similar outer appearance like a GT3 RS

of course your right and i am totally aware of the fact that there is a huge difference between a race car like the Cup and regular GT3. However, I was still stunned by how much faster it actually came out to be. I ve been to some track days where optimised 996 GT3 RS hit similar lap times as 996 Cups, but the difference among the 997s is just big! ;)
The Cup has the same body, roof and only slightly modified breaks and engine as the regular GT3. The rest is race-car style...
Dont know for sure what top speed was but the driver who introduced us to the car said it hits around 265 kmh.

Thanks rantanplan: a luxo 997.1 GT3 only reaches close to 240 km/h 
At Döttinger Höhe it's a different story as the Cup cars are geared to max downforce 
As for the laptime: looks like the shortened GP circuit (without the "Haug Bow") - difference to a factory GT3 should be around 7-10 sec ?
Did you do the test on 3th August and did you have a passenger around noon (Christian name starting with "M") ? Just curious....

I'm sure you must have enjoyed it. i'll have the same chance then you but in Monza in September. A friend will let me drive his Cup. Lokking forward to.
Thanks for the report and the vid. i'm back from Dijon where i've been having my 4 th race from the season.Great conditions for the race but to many cars. 30 cars for a 4th Km track. I leave you imagine the mess on the first corner after the start.
Well no domage. Thanks god. My position on the pit. line 9th which is the 17th place of 30 cars, finished the race 14th and first of my category.
Really happy with my setting. Well, now i have to get ready for my course with the Scuderia Handseat at the nordschleife in two weeks.

Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed that video, great driving!!
How competittive were your times compared to those of a pro-driver? It seems you drive your lines really well and make some very decent progress while keeping it safe...
lap timing was definately not the aim that day since this was the first experience in a Porsche Cup. However, the lap timer was active, at least the first few hours. this really doent mean anything since the settings for this car were all pretty standard that day but the carrera cup driver managed a 1:51 min within a few laps and my best time was around 1:54 min.
I know the Nürburgring pretty well (VLN and 24h) but the sequential gear box and breaking needed my full attention that day. This car is a proper race car und compares to nothing else i have driven before...

hi joost, the yellow lights are actually the shifting lights for upshifts. compared to other street cars and even race cars, the time period between the lights and the limiter is extremely short.
a perfect upshift should be when the lights are yellow (8600 rpm) and a perfect downshift should go slightly into the limiter at around 9000rpm. it can be seen that most of the times i shifted down too late and didnt use all the engine break that i could have...

true, a regular GT3 would be faster on döttinger höhe than the cup car but on a full lap (nordschleife or GP) the cup is a total different league.
it actually wasnt me that day. i tested on the first day of the oldtimer grandprix.

congrats for the sports cup results. i am really interested in experiening one of those weekends some time soon too...
i wish you great testing the cup in monza. one of my favourite tracks. we actually also wanted to test there first but then managed to do it at the nürburgring...
