The LP560 should be more impressive on such short aquaintance as it is considerably more powerful. I think you'll find it a more flexible engine with torque available from far lower down the rev range. The 430 needs revs before it lifts it's skirts and dashes for the horizon but it counters with the sweeter steering of the two. Visibility is better in the Ferrari but the Gallardo has a real sense of occassion due to it's cockpit layout being so different to other cars - a low dash with the windscreen base seemingly a long way ahead of you. Four wheel drive also makes the Lambo feel more planted but less involving.
It'll be interesting to read your thoughts on the transmissions if both cars tested are running the same type, either manual or paddleshift. If paddle shift the 430 should win out though the 560 has a much improved version of egear.
If you get the chance try out a 430 Scuderia. It really is in a different league from a regular 430.

i think the lp560 is way cooler than the f430....any lambo is cooler than a ferrari imo....
I am no expert in Lamborghini, but the sound of the engine is perhaps the best around.
Also I am attracted to Lamborghini because there is German engineering input into it that can't be a bad thing at all.
German technology + Italian temperament = excellent combination

Thank you for your input, very excited to drive the LP-560 this weekend. I know the f430 is on the way out, but seeing as this would be my first Ferrari, I doubt I would be able to get my hands on a 458 without waiting a very prolonged amount of time, however if i bought a f430 I would try and get on the "list" for a 458. Also going to check out a Scuderia. Ive always been bias to Ferrari, but from reading reviews and test driving the LP-560 this weekend may sway me towards a Lamborghini.

Did you also consider the Scuderia? Of course the Scuderia would not be suited as a daily driver. However, my ranking between Scuderia and LP560-4 would be clearly in favour of the Scuderia
