    Re: Panamera Owner Club

Mark, you're hilarious but I could add myself too to this list.

Reason for not ordering: too costly compared to the Cayenne, resale value risk.

@simony007: wait a couple of weeks, the Panamera will find more owners over here on Rennteam as soon as people get to make testdrives at dealerships.

hi there .. I rarely participate but this is one great forum ..

    ID: Sayyaaf

Model: Panamera 4S (Naturally aspirated all the way)

    Production line: Septmeber

    Dealer promised arrival time: November

    Country: UAE

Reason for ordering: Sporty 4 door - Unique and fresh styling although eye challenging sometimes ..

I wanted the Turbo but it is too expensive + I am not so sure about turbo engines in hot climate anymore (bad experience with recent BMWs N54)

    Re: Panamera Owner Club

The Porsche Turbo engines are very reliable, even in hot climates, no need to worry. I know many RUF Porsche owners in the Middle East who didn't have a single problem yet with their cars and I also know a couple of Gemballa/Techart Cayenne Turbo owners with good experience. As long as the fuel quality is OK, nothing to worry here.

Yes, the Panamera Turbo IS expensive. I'm still not sure why Porsche didn't price it next to the Cayenne, it would have been an easier choice for many people. Congratulations, btw. I hope you honour us with a detailled driving report and some photos once you get your car. Smiley

Thank you RC ..... Of course I'd share my experience with you guys .. I have a slight suspecition that S & 4S might be similar in straight line acceleration ..

Hi, I've seen  you went for the 4S instead of the S. Can you please explain how you made your decision. Thanks!

    Re: Panamera Owner Club

hello reginos , my order was actually the S as I am a RWD fan and would really hate if my car was FWD or AWD ... but since I drove the GTS / Turbo and the 911 4S ... those cars feel pretty much RWD. And I saw that the Porsche is promoting the 4S as a higher ranking model than the S, the 4S is faster to 100 (I am not sure after that) and the price difference is not that big (2K euro) ... So I went for the 4S ... And when I saw Autocar were Able to drift the car on the track, the 4S got the nod and I felt better about my purchase :D

    Thanks for your reply.

Waiting for a new car it's nice because you have something to look forward to but it will be nicer when it arrives!

    Hi Sayyaaf,

Referring to several other forum members, I have the Cayenne turbo and just around the corner of you, never had any issues with the engine or turbos (touch wood). The Panamera has the V8 straight out of the Cayenne so there are no worries.

Also there are more CTT's in Muscat you can shake a stick Smileyat so it must be OK.

    Cheers,

    Mark,
PS, I did see 1 old model Cayenne on my 3 week travels last month (UK, Houston), amazing to see probably 5 CTT's only on my drive back from work. The Cayenne is incredably popular here, she actually blends in. In Holland I had a XC60 and I had a feeling people wheren't that happy for me driving a slightly larger car

    Re: Panamera Owner Club

Hello neighbor .. I know  the CTT is quite reliable but there has been this fuel pump issue that everybody is complaining ... and it is a common problem here in UAE .. Donno about Oman though but I think it is the same scenario ..

I have 2 firends with Cayenne turbo .. one with 30K on the clock and last month he had the fuel pump issue .. it got replaced. The other guy is a heavy user so I couldn't really blame the car .. but now I think it is a common issue (even dealer is admitting it - and now they redesigned the fuel pump so expect either a recall or they will change it when simply it fails).

BTW Mark, when is the launch date for the Panamera in Oman ? Our dealer is stupid enough that they delayed it till october to have everybody's attention ( people are back from holidays and Ramadan will be over) but now the car appeared at some other dealer showrooms (like Prestige and Princesses cars) which import cars directly from Europe .. They are really pissed now ..
