have made my decision and am placing my order for a bmw x6m.

quite excited really. production scheduled for november with deliver forecasted for december.

specs:

 Nice options ! and good colour combo. many many congrats !!  the X6M was in my 3 car garage list, i just love everything about it. I'd go for Space grey with a sakhir orange interior. is it obvious that i've given this some though ?

while the option list seems long, actually almost have of it is standard equipment on the M model vs the standard models.

all the options i specced amounted to 20k euro. with porsche that would have allowed us to tick 3 boxes...

i am really excited about this car as i am sure that it'll be massive fun to drive.

really subtle on the outside and a great engine iam sure judging from the performance of the 50i.

Congratulations.  I'm going to testdrive a X5M or X6M next month, so I'm pretty sure you're going to be curious about my impressions.

Nethertheless, this SUV should be awesome, the engine must be a treat and I read in various reviews that  this time, even the brake system has been adapted to satisfy all needs and expectations.

I'm still not sure what to do: the X5M "itches" me a lot. On the other hand, the anti-Cayenne "movement" (as I call it) seems to have passed, people don't care too much about the Cayenne anymore, I didn't have an aggressive comment regarding the Cayenne for months now. Maybe people are pre-occupied with different things or the fuel prices aren't high enough, I don't  know. So there is no need to go for a less "obvious" car right now, the Cayenne Turbo S is just fine.

Speaking of Cayenne: the next generation is also due soon and what I've seen from semi-official sketches, it looks good. The interior will be very Panamera-like, another good thing. I also heard that the next generation Cayenne Turbo will be around 100 kg lighter due to an optional Off-Road package and the base power should be 540 to 550 HP, making it at least as fast as the new X5/X6M.

My 997 Turbo lease runs out in two years, I guess I still have time to decide what to do. The X5/X6M surely have one huge advantage: their price tags. My BMW dealer already offered me 11% on a brandnew X5M and I'm pretty sure that prices on slightly used X5/X6M will drop even further after 6-12 months. Difficult decision.

i jumped at the the current 50i because it made no sense for me to go with the facelift porsche and i had a good chance to sell my cayenne turbo. had i kept it, i'd still bes sitting on it now with it's value depreciating more and more.

the x6m seems the logical choice for me as recent porsche products really did not do it for me. i feel a bit let down as a fan and a customer.

surely pdk is good. but it should have been presented with the intro of the 997. not mid cycle.

furthermore, the x6 simply looks fresher and diferent. to me it's the more attractive package.

looking forward to rc's input on the test drive.....

 You don't want a cayenne because the 997 should have had the PDK before?

Anyway, nice to see the competition gearing up...

RC, you should keep your current cars, they are not that old. In two years, the economy and car landscape might be different yet. For example you might be able to replace your M3 and your 997TT by a cheap used California

i just think that porsche has been a bit 'slow' lately with technology adaptation.

hence, i am not as 'hot' for the new porsche mdels as i was a while back. i simply started to open my eyes for the competitiors.

i tried to configure one,but in Italy X6M configurator doesn't work yet...

BTW i configured a Cayenne Turbo and i'm over 150.000 Euros

Nice choice, white is the best colour on the X6 IMHO.

Congrats!  I have also just placed an order for one...not quite like yours as I got the X5M instead.  Monte Carlo Blue and not sure what interior yet.  Is your interior Bamboo (beige not an option at least not here)?  I am tossing up between Bamboo and silverstone, with piano black trim.  Our equipment list is similar, biggest difference is I am not speccing the full leather and I have gone for the Individual rear privacy glass instead of side blinds.  To me they cut out the heat and UV rays much better.  Anyway, congrats!

RC, please do go test drive a car asap.  I am keen to hear what you think of the X5M.  I am buying blind here as I have no idea how good or bad it is!

SciFrog, this isn't the first time I am buying a car before trying it - TT, Cooper S, 135i, Cayman S, M3, C63, 911 etc.  X5M will be our family car so I am not too concerned as I won't be pushing it that hard or anything.  In fact it will be my wife's family car as I have a C63 as my car that the whole family can fit into (although we will probably end up using the X5M more as it is much more spacious).  Why get the M then I hear you ask?  Well, I like to have lots of power when I do have to drive it.

I like the full leather interior too, but my wife is worried that our child will ruin it.  It will be mainly her car anyway so I will go with what she wants.  I do agree that the car looks much more luxurious in full leather.
