    He's Back

    Hi Everyone,
I was a regular here before and after I got my 2006 911 C4 Cab and I enjoyed being here and learned A LOT from you folks so here's a thank you to all for that! After the 911 I had a Boxster. I've been Porsche-less for a little while now and missed the 911 sooooooooo a 2009 911 Carrera Coupe white PDK arrives tomorrow (8/19) and I'm as excited to get it as I was the 911 back in late 2005! I'll post some pics soon as I can. Good to be back.
    Don

    Re: He's Back

Thanks everyone, nice welcome back!  P-car didn't arrive yesterday until around 6 p.m. and since I had company and dinner reservations I didn't really get to enjoy/drive it until today.  It's doing a real good job satisfying my "Porsche Jones".   Here's a pic I took this morning in-between downpours.  Going to the goobermint in the morning to try to get my WHTESQRL license plate moved over to the P-car.  Weekend's supposed to be nice so may post some pics from up on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Good to be back!  Hmmm, I've switched from being a Windows user (I will NEVER buy another PC!!!!) Porsche 911 Coupe 082009 20.JPGto all Macs in my absence - not sure my photo upload made it.

    Fritz,

You asked so here's a white squirrel photo.  I posted one last night but it's not here this morning.  If it's against policy, someone please tell me and I won't post any more like it.  Maybe I could put tons of peanuts all over the white P-car and get both in one pic that way. :)

    Don

p.s. I wish I knew how to get my text single spaced here.  Anyone??

    Re: He's Back

Hi Dasein, you can single space text by pressing the shift key on your keyboard at the same time as pressing the return key

You'll find there are some small changes to how everything works on RT but the end results are (hopefully) the same or better. Do please let us know if there are any other issues. You can also check the RT Development Board to see if any question you have has already been answered

    Re: He's Back

I've edited the layout of the text in your post to show you how it can look  (Of course, I haven't added/removed any of your text )

Other than that, I wouldn't have thought that a photo of a white squirrel holding a peanut would be objectionable Smiley

Those white squirrels can be pretty elusive sometimes, I guess. Smiley

Thanks for reposting the pic today. He's pretty cute.
Now if you could just get him to pose in front of a couple of grinning tourists he could become famous worldwide on the net and TV, just like one of his Canadian cousins did in the last few days. Smiley

    Re: He's Back

Thanks.  One night, online, I was looking at dealer inventories of new 911s just for the halibut and saw this one in South Carolina that came with some extras but not a ton of options I would never make use of.  I've always thought 911s looked real nice in white.  When I saw the price I thought it was a mistake so next morning I called the Sales Manager.  It wasn't a mistake and after a little back & forth I bought her.  Let's just say she came in somewhere between $65,000 and $70,000.  I think it's a good time to buy a 2009.  Here's the list: PDK, Heated Steering Wheel, Bose, Self Dimming Mirrors, Floor Mats, Power Seats w/Driver Memory, Heated Front Seats, and XM Radio.  I had them add the Universal Audio Interface (iPod, USB, and AUX).  They had a nice Guards Red 911 too but it had Navi and more options that I really didn't want.  I'm very happy with the car, the dealer, and the deal.  I'll have a little more to say about the PDK when I take her up on the Blue Ridge Parkway Sunday or Monday.

    Good to have you back!

    Re: He's Back

Went up on the Blue Ridge Parkway this morning, weather was finally agreeable for picture taking.  I'll post just a few pics from today.  Darn Check Oil message appeared.  I did and it shows completely full, bars to the very top so I'm guessing they may have overfilled it at the dealer.  How harmful is that and can I drive it or should I bring it to the closest dealer for a little blood (oil) letting?
    Thanks,
    Don

Don - there are many threads on here covering oil and overfilling.....try the new search facility, it's great.

The main consensus is that overfilling is not good and should be rectified asap.

A trip to the dealer is probably your best bet...Smiley

    Re: He's Back

Just as an empirical tip when I do oil and filter change I ask for only 7 litres to be used. The manual says more.

With 7 litres the indication is on the second bar (out of 3) which is fine and without danger of overfilling. This applies to 997.2 engines. For 997.1 the quantities might be different.

If you have excess oil take some out until you are below maximum.

    Re: He's Back

Thanks everyone for the oil advice.  Much as I didn't want to part with her, she's only been here a week, I had her trucked to the closest dealer's service.  I sure hope this 911 isn't going to throw off the error message of the month, every month, unrelenting.  That's why I got rid of my 2006 911 C4, it spent more time being looked at/fixed than being around to drive.  Figured I got a fluke so would try again.  Hoping this is just an isolated incident.
