2006 S or Turbo - Tow Vehicle - Help Me decide
This is my first post, but I've done a lot of reading and searching on this site and a few other sites that cover Cayennes as well as Touaregs. I've also driven a new Touareg, new Q7, new X5, and I'm pretty set on finding a 2006 Cayenne, just torn between whether or not I need an air suspension (really hard to find on the S) and whether or not to go for a Turbo.
A little backround, I currently have a Silverado 1500 truck and a BMW, but want to consolidate to one vehicle that will drive like a car when I'm not towing, but tow my 5,500 lb wakeboard boat to the lake and back. I generally only tow 10 miles to the lake each way on flat country roads, but a few times a year I tow about 300 miles. My main question is, do I really need the air suspension? I've read a lot on people insisting it's needed on the wakeboard sites and a few other sites, but my thinking is my truck doesn't have one, why would my Cayenne need one? If any of you have had good experiences towing with the steel spring suspension, I'd love to hear about it.
My second question is about reliability? Is the S more reliable than the Turbo or vica versa? Are there any potential issues I should look out for in the 2006 version of either? One last question, are these vehicles reliable enough that I would be ok to pick one up with about 40-50,000 miles on it and not need to worry about any major maintancence costs until 100,000 miles plus? or should I try to find a CPO for the warranty?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
