Refinished Carrera S 2 alloys

I recently picked up a new Gen 2 Boxster S which had the Carrera 2 S alloys fitted. I was really dissapointed with the dull silver factory finish on the wheels as it almost looked matt with no depth to the metallic. I got the dealer to fit a set of Carrera Sports alloys I had spare and sent the wheels off to a specialist to have them refinished. Inspired by the wheels on my Audi R8 I decided to recreate that look but use GT silver as the base colour and have the rims and outer spoke faces diamond cut then laquered. I just received these pics back today from the wheel refinisher and am really pleased with the result. It's a similar finish to the Carrera Sport wheels but will make my car unique Smiley

Hope others like them too.

Very nice. I'd like to see a picture of the wheels on the car once they are fitted. I agree that the standard factory finish is very matte. The wheel design is very attractive and I think you've given it more interest w/o adding "bling" that would be over the top.

Very nice, take pics of them fitted to the car when you can. they look very unique and much better than the factory metalic.

Finally got the wheels fitted to the car. Hope the pics show the contrast between the polished rim and spokes and the GT silver paint.

I have a set of OEM GT silver coloured centres but unfortunately the paint on the wheels is just a shade or two lighter. The guy who did them apologised and said that it could be down to either his paint supplier providing a slightly wrong shade or, and more likely, it could be the oven curing process which can make the paint dry a lighter shade he said. The standard silver centres actually look quite good as from a distance they appear to match the polished spokes. I may send the coloured centre caps up to the paint shop for him to match the colour at some point though.

Overall I'm really pleased as the new look gives the wheel shape more definition and definately makes them look like a more expensive wheel. If I did the job over I'd most likely opt for slate grey like the OEM turbo wheels to give an even greater contrast.

Looking very, very good! The finish enhances the technical character of the car, not sure if that was your intention?

Due to the attention the rims attract I would consider to lower the car though, I suppose you haven´t installed PASM on the car?

The car doesn't have PASM as I don't like it. It's my girlfriend's dd and she doesn't want it lowered so I'm happy to leave it as standard.
