Is 3M clear tape also good for city bumpers?

I certainly know that 3M clear "bra" material is great for preventing highway rock chips. May it also be good for city dwellers who want to minimize bumper scratches on their parallel parked commuter cars? In anticipation of running a new commuter car, I've been thinking of wrapping the front and rear bumper covers of the anticipated car.

BTW, I was going to post this question in "off-topic," but I'm barred from commenting there. ...Have I misbehaved? Smiley I used to be able to post there.

It will help with VERY soft contacts. The rest will just peel off from the force IMO.

Definitely. Parking type contacts it will definitely help with. I've seen it first hand numerous times. Even times where I havent seen what happened but later notice someone touched the bumper on my SUV but there was no paint damage.

Yup. My Audi had very soft paint on the bumpers. I mean to the point that it would gouge out like putty. I had it resprayed and a sheet of 3M applied to it for like $100 bucks.

Marring, chipping, and bump scratches are significantly down. And I live in DC where Maryland and Virginia drivers who aren't use to narrow European'esque streets and parallel parking use your bumper like some kind of damn guidance tool!

You do have some crazy, narrow,curvey streets. Dont remember the name but you can see one of those just slightly in the pic from my Hotel room/ it almost felt like driving through Central Park:

Judging by the picture, looks like you were at the Marriott Wardman Park and had a room overlooking part of Rock Creek Park. That's the Connecticut Ave / Willam H Taft Bridge in the background. One of the most beautiful in D.C. in my opinion.

...Thanks for the replies. Sounds like wrapping the bumpers is worth a try. Compared to the rest of the car, it's not much cost at all, and certainly will *not* make scratches worse! Smiley
