Guys- I have to take back what I was saying about that car.
Today Ive seen the first one in reality and have to say it looks much better as on the picture. The car is wide and wild! Also flat, long... just huge. Much better as on the pictures. Still - will not be my favorite car, but it looks indeed quit good!
Thank you for the feedback; there is no substitute for actually seeing these new cars. It is not too surprising to find that it is exactly the same size (HXWXL) as the SLR which means it is a big car and is lower than most of the competition (3" lower than the Ferrari 599!). The cars will be available to drive here in California at an AMG event at Laguna Seca this November; unfortunately it is sold out or I would go.
I have been studding the first pictures of the new Ferrari 458. While I have been interested in the SLS, this new Ferrari has great numbers and looks awesome. Guess I better go talk to my friendly Ferrari dealer. Wonder what the price spread will be? Ferrari had been talking about Scud pricing for this car (285000?) and Mercedes hasn't set a price either but the latest rumors are 200,000 base.
The choice may be more obvious once they are officially introduced with pricing in place. Nick has stated prices well under what I have heard and I hope he is right. Both companies would be wise to be conservative in this economy or they will have even more inventory sitting around. There is also some rumors that the Ferrari may not have a spider version any time soon which would impact some buyers including me. The fact that the SLS is thought to be pretty hard to get in and out off is also a factor. Decisions, decisions. This is fun!!
