It just hit me that half a 550 should be 275. I only wish my half was a 275 GTB/4 with Aluminum body
I can't claim to have noticed that connection when I made my comment about "half a 550" but I do think that you shouldn't be so greedy and start to think in terms of a GTB.

First, congrats to Ferrari for producing something truly special. This should appease even the most demanding Ferraristi. What's not to like? It will most likely offer CGT performance for half the price. I'm sure its sophisticated electronics/transmission will overcome its 40HP deficit vs CGT.
By the way, it should look good in Yellow, just not the greenish one shown earlier on this thread.
Why can't Porsche build something like this - even Audi is entering this segment with the V10 R8.

IMHO base $260, most cars priced in the $285-300 range.
Ferrari would be silly to price it less, look at the response to the car here, everybody loves it. It is THE car to have in that category.
Have to take into consideration economic conditions. Maybe in 2006/07 they could get $285 base... IMO it will be $30-50k over the California base. $300k will be for the 12cyl's.
My GUESS - 458 - $230k-$250k base USD.. Considering CCM's standard. Leaning more towards the $250k.
oh, you meant $285-$300k for optioned cars. Yep, agree. Pretty close/just slightly more than what I would guess.

Did I read something about it being offered first in Europe???
If so do you know when dealers typically start placing customer spec'd orders w/ the factory? I forget is it right away after the September launch? And does anyone know when it would be available in the US? I like to wait for the 2nd year, not so much because of 1st year gremlins although I think there is something to that in terms of build quality but because I like to see how other cars look spec'd & get used to what options work, etc & usually there are more options available after the 2nd year.

I love the car, can only imagine that it looks even hotter in person, that's usually the case. I think this is going to be in big demand even with current conditions, it's design is so refreshing imo. Especially LOVED the front but just one thing to be totally nitpicky - What is the deal w/ the chrome cavilino in the front? It's easier to see in full size pics.
It LOOKS like it's sitting on an inch or 2 forward pedestal of some type, like it's pushed forward??? Is that what it looks like to others too?
