Why consider an " uber hauler" , then compromise passenger carrying capacity. The X5M is the only one of these that carries 7 adults in a pinch, although the third row is tight for anyone over 5 ft 5 in tall compared to an MBZ GL.
Those of us with younger kids know the dilemma : there seems to always be 4 of them to pick up or drop off when only three fit in the second row. With kids , it means grandparents visiting often and riding to dinner, so right there you need more than 5 seats for a typical family with 2-3 kids .
( under 12 y/os usually cannot legally sit in front here if there is a second row unless in a baby carrier facing backwards , preferably with air bag deactivation even then)
If I didn't have kids , you couldn't GIVE me any of these types of 2 ton crossover/SUV " trucksters " .

Well you know what decision I made and I have to say I am loving everything about the RS6. Well nearly everything: even driving super economically you can only get about 23mpg out of that 5L V10 TFDI engine! Put your foot down and see the fuel economy go down to 6mpg! I would never have paid full new price for an RS6 which is why I got myself an amazing deal of a month old one with 25% off. Every optional extra apart from the solar sunroof too. Bargain!
Winter traction aside, it seems the RS6 should be compared to E63 Wagon -it's really a sedan based traditional estate/station wagon as far as this thread is concerned .
These two vehicles and the M5 are lumped together in their sedan version sedan comparos.
As mentioned , X5M is the only 7 seater of the ML 63, Cayenne Turbo or GTS, Range Rover Supercharged high riding " euro-super-utes " avail in the US.
I still haven't made a decision as I have been busy. But am planning to make a decision by this weekend. I think I will go with the X5M because of the size. We will be keeping the C63 so getting a RS6 isn't that much bigger in terms of interior space of the rear passenger. My only concern with the X5M is some unfavourable reviews (such as EVO) on the X6M. But if you read what they are saying, it's basically because the Xdrive 50i is almost as fast but much lighter hence performs just as well. Also it is apparent that the X6M is too heavy for the track. But does that really matter for me? Not really, I have a track car and sports car. This is going to be my family hauler that will never see the inside of a track (other than maybe as a tow car one day). Anyone here privilege to have driven the X5M or know of a X5M review?
