2009 Boxster S 0-60 in 4.3 s??

I know the Boxster S is fast with PDK but 4.3 seconds? Is Porsche really THAT conservative with their official times? This time would put it as fast as a 2009 Carrera S!

Does anyone have experience with a 987 tiptronic non-S. I know the website put the 0-60 at 6.8 seconds but I'm wonderin if anyone has tested it with a faster 0-60 speed. My car feels like it is faster than 6.8. Thanks guys!

I know that my 2008 987S with a manual factory short-shifter can do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. I have no doubt that the more powerful 310 hp '09 with PDK in launch mode can achieve the same in 4.3 seconds. Porsche is conservative in their published performance numbers, which I believe is 4.8 seconds for an '09 with PDK and Sport Chrono, and not 6.8 as stated above. As I recall, in the August 2005 edition of Road & Track, they were able to record a 3.9 second 0 to 60 with a manual '06 997S! I thought that 3.9 seconds was truly unbelievable for a stock 997S, but Road and Track stuck by this number for years, some even suggested that Porsche supplied them with a particularly fast example. In contrast, some auto makers are a bit optimistic with their published numbers. For instance, Lotus quotes a 4.3 second 0-60 time for their Elise SC, and the testers typically achieve 4.6 seconds. Not one tester that I am aware of recorded a 4.3 0-60 time. Lastly, if I am not mistaken the July Issue of Road & Track is quoting a 4.1 second 0 to 60 for an '09 Porsche 987S with PDK. Simply put, the Boxster has always been a much faster car than even Porsche is ready to admit.

I agree. Just to clarify, the 6.8 seconds I was talkin about was my car, an 05 987 non-S tip. I was just wonderin if anyone had recorded a faster speed than that.

But I don't think Car and Driver was lying. I guess I just have to test drive the new 09 S. Cant wait!!!

I have never driven an '05 Tip 987, but I am sure that it is faster than 6.8 to 60.

09 boxster S is best value for the money of any car on the market period.

German car magazine AutoZeitung did 4,5 s from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) with the Boxster S PDK. That's about 4,3 s to 0-60mph.

Right on! When I did measure top speed of my 2007 BoxsterS I was surprised to reach 284km/h vs. the Porsche published 272km/h.An this was not even the end, just had to slow down because of upcoming traffic.

And yes this was GPS measured, the odometer showed something around 296km/h, although I did not pay to much attention other than to the traffic. Smiley

177.5 mph! Pretty impressive, but then Porsche have always understated the performance of their cars.

When we did the Factory Collection of our own 3.4 nearly three years ago - my time flies Smiley - the tour guide told us that Porsche's tolerance for the engine is the range -0 to +5%, so 295 bhp could well be as much as 310bhp.

Only this week I was so nearly tempted to buy a year old Carrera S PDK coupe, only 5,300 miles and yet 25% off new price. Yesterday evening I had a wonderful top - down blast in the Boxey, sports exhaust bellowing, snick-snick of the short shift gearbox,the precision mid-engined handling, which just reinforced what an amazing car the Boxster is - and decided me against changing.
