    How to defeat PSE cutoff?

Sorry if this info is available somewhere else on the forum, but although I've searched I cannot find the info I need.

I have just bought a lovely phase 1 997 C2S cab which has the PSE (but no sport chrono, which I like as it means I get the separate PSE on/off switch).

I love the PSE but the "homologation" cutoff between 40 and 70 km/h or whatever it is drives me crazy.

I've found the vacuum hose mod, but that's not what I want as I think the whole point of PSE is its on/off switchable function.

So is there a way to keep that swithc functional whilst getting rid of the cutoff?

    Thanks.

You need to add an additional switch that will do the same job as the vacuum hose mod. I did that on my 997.1 C4S . It worked great.

Thanks. Is there a tutorial somewhere that explains how to do this?

Not sure of the details but watch the vacuum hose mod.

When i was at the GT3 launch event with Andreas, he openly stated that disconnecting the electric plug was fine, however taking the vacuum hoses off was a big no no. Basically it effects the back pressure into the engine and has been linked to oil links (he even hinted at RMS)

Can't comment myself on doing this as i am not a Porsche grease monkey, however when the head of the GT Motorsport division states this i tend to listen.

and I' ll try to find my post were there was all the details how to do it. But it was back in 2005 or 2006. I have to see if i find it

Re: How to defeat PSE cutoff?

I found this,,the whole explanation is there

    You mean like this ?
    Switch closed: everything per factory
Switch open : PSE on loud all the time ( no power to solenoid)
    Install:
    1. remove carpet trim piece behind rear seats
    2. remove the left(passenger side) electronics metal cover
    3. cut the red/purple (12 v) wire going to the solenoid valve and splice a wire to each end( the wire is located in the extreme left corner ,going into the engine compartment)

Route the two wires behind the passenger side side panels ( you will need to remove the storage compartment below the passenger door ( lift out the rubber bottom and remove one screw) then continue the wires behind the carpet around the foot well to the center console or wherever you want to put the switch . I intalled mine in the ashtray .

Re: How to defeat PSE cutoff?

Thanks a lot Gnil. I didn't realize it would be so complicated and it would require such extensive work (I had a 996 before, that was simple!).

I'm not much of a mechanic so I don't know if I would be able to carry out the mod you describe.

Re: How to defeat PSE cutoff?

Sorry but I have another question. Seeing as I don't have sport chrono so that I'm lucky enough to have a separate PSE switch on my console, isn't possible to route the mod through that switch instead of having to install a second switch somewhere else?

Thanks again for your help and avice guys.

Re: How to defeat PSE cutoff?

I had it done by my mechanic at my OPC dealer .

The problem with the switch on the dashboard is that is can not cut the electricity  as these switches work on impulsion. I don't know if you follow my poor English explanation . I wanted an extra switch on the the dash board, like yours, but it was impossible. The only solution is to put an old fashioned switch that car cut off the power
