    Finally got my baby

    Hi, guys,

    After nearly a year of waiting I finally took delivery of my new Carrera S PDK with the following options:

    - Ruby Red Exterior

    - Black interior w/sports seats and red seat belts

    - Sports Chrono Plus

    - LSD

    - Porsche Sports Exhaust

    - PCM w/satnav

    - Rear Parking sensors,

    At present I'm still running her in, so I'll have to wait till I form my full impressions.  All I can say is that I LOVE the colour!!  It looks quite different in real life, and it also looks different in different lighting conditions. In our bright sunshine, it looks great!  I've taken just a few pics at present - I'll post more when I take more.

    ADias, the tyres seem nice on initial impressions - not too much tyre roar, and decent steering response.  I haven't tested them on the limit yet since I'm still running the car in.  Incidentally I had Continental SportContact 2s on my 987 Boxster S, which were much louder and less pliant.  Maybe it is to do with the new suspension geometry or the good quality of our roads, but I find the general ride not too different from the Boxster, even though the Boxster was on 18" wheels (no PASM), and this is on 19" with PASM!!

    Ruby Red is definitely a colour I'll be considering for a future purchase.

    I still haven't seen one 'in the flesh' yet, but the photos are whetting my appetite..

    Shukhran, 996AD!!  The car is parked in the shade and when not (i.e. at work), it gets covered by a car cover, so the paint is protected.  I have also done the Pro-tech treatment, which protected my Boxster for 4 years. 

    Incidentally, the Porsche Club UAE is organizing a track day on the Yas Island circuit in November.  I'm counting the days!!

    I'll record the sound as soon as I finish running in the car. 

    Liquid, it might be worth asking the Porsche Service before attempting to bypass the switch - you know the draconian warranty rules here!  I normally change the oil after the first 5,000kms, so at that time I'll ask them.

    Congrats to you too for getting the PSE!  I'm generally happy with the PSE, except that it would have been great if I could notice a difference at low revs as well. 

    I haven't yet switched off the plug but will speak to the Porsche mechanics soon to see what can be done.

    I was driving shkh zayed road and 997 mkI passed with sport exhaust on mid range rpm . it sounds something like a ferrari Smiley

    996AD, personally, I would prefer the other after-market systems, and in fact I had installed a Fox (Skyline Exhausts, Al Quoz) cat-back system on my Boxster.  It just sounded divine!!!

    The problem occured when I went to the OPC for a service.  They informed me that by installing this system, I had invalidated the warranty.  So I went back to my original system.  That's why I ordered the PSE for the new Carrera.

     I had a problem with my 996 and i still hear most 997 make same rattle from the exhaust tips Smiley I remember i solved this problem by welding the tip to the exhaust Smiley and after that you don't hear other than pure flat six sound Smiley

    OK, thanks.  I meant that I think an after-market exhaust like Tubi sounds much better, but fitting such a system invlidates the warranty here in the UAE.

     I know , but still even with sport exhaust i hear this rattle . I think i will go with PSE but only if im not satisfied with original sound. 9974S black/black will be with me hopefully next month
