Re: News on the 430 Replacement

    trip:

I actually like the way it looks, hopefully it will give the F450 Porsche-like visibility.

Quite frankly, if you were to block out the entire body and just look at the ABC's pillars down to the beltline, you would think that the greenhouse of the car is a 911 ! Smiley

Which to me is an awful tragedy. I don't want my Ferrari to look like a Porsche.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

Thats what I was getting at although I don't think it will look much like a 911 when we see the finished car. It reminds me a bit of a sharper R8.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

    Wow!!

This could be the best looking Ferraris in years... It's looking very promising!!!

Wonder if that "stick on" Scuderia shield will be available as a weight-saving option...?

    Love it.

I wonder, how they can put the shields on those fenders at all? Smiley

Really not much space left for them.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

I have to agree with Heist, but also have to "extend" his point for some more time. From the time that LdM took over, Ferraris are getting better and better from any point of view, except the looks. The begining was marvellous. The existing good looking Ferarris (Testarossa and 348) but not very good sports cars,  simply changed to great cars (512TR and 355) and perhaps even better looking. But these cars were already great looking (the basic shape), and could not  be changed significantly. Even 456 was already ready before LdM.From that time, they appeared F50 (no one can compare this with F40), 550 (relativily goog looking front engined, but without the visual drama of 512tr) and then all the others. With the exception of 599 (not great but acceptabble). Not to mention that the line up changed from 3 midengined (348/355, testarossa/512, f40/f50) and only one frontengined (412/456) to 3 frontengined today (Cali/599/612) towards 2 midengined today (430/Enzo&successor). For 450 i was hoping, but not expected to be a good looking car and as it seems it won't.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

Here's for hopping Luca decided to change the mirrors, and go for a more Zonda or AM style ones and put them in doors corners

The rest of the lines I really like!

I agree with most everything you said, but we have to wait to see the new car in real world situations before saying it is good or not.

The 512 TR is the best 12 in modern fcars but the 599 had some nice lines.

The 348 was the best looking 8 but the CS is not too bad.

    Here is a pic of the 512TR and the best looking CS i have ever seen;

That object in the green circle sure looks like a turbo, and its in the right place for one...Only 4-pot calipers on the rear brakes too. How does czechferrari.cz get this kind of access??

They look like cell phone shots . They guy who took them probably took too them all at once, and Czech Ferrari is slowly releasing a few images each week to keep people coming back to the site and get their hit count up.

It's definitely has to be a Ferrari insider with the camera or someone who was lucky/sneaky enough to get off the beaten path and get access to the development and crash testing area.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

No question in my mind that this is an inside job...no one else would have access to this type of stuff/area.

It's also becoming a more widespread practice by the manufacturers themselves to release "testing" images.  I don't think this is case.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

Other than the elimination of the upper air intake, I am having difficulty distinguishing the side silhouette from the 430 side view.

Well basically the two cars are the same layout. The best thing to distinguish them are still missing, that is the front&rear lights and front&rear bumper.

What I can see so far is to my liking. The cabin reminds me a bit of a Pagani, which is a good thing IMO. The new air intake behind the C-pillar is a nice feature, I hope the parts that are still missing will give the car the aggressiveness it deserves. I don't want to see another Mercedes-style car from Ferrari like the California. Smiley

Look again...the only things they'll have in common are:

Four wheels, layout (MR) and the fact that they'll sport the prancing horse.

I think ferrari just doesn't care about what exact type of engine they're going to crash, this may be an old exhausted developpment engine that just weights the same.Smiley

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

    Some new pics:

    Ferrari 450 spotted.jpgFerrari 450 spotted 2.jpg

This is the final car, hidden beneath black F430 body panels. Smiley

You can already see some differences compared to the current car:

    • new mirrors, mounted at the doors
    • single rear lights à la 599 and California
    • triple exhaust, similar to the the F40

Looks good to me. Only thing I will have to get used to is those mirrors sticking from the door panels instead of the window corners...

They remind me a bit of those of the Enzo, only that they're mounted at the doors instead on the front fenders. Smiley

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

Man I really want to know what that third exhaust is doing. Surely if its still on the car at this point its not something cosmetic to throw off spy shot analyzers...

Sure would seem to be a wastegate, unless it's part of the sport exhaust (sometimes the exhaust goes through all the pipes and sometimes fewer, based on noise and power requirements?)

Thats what I'm thinking. It has to be serving some purpose, although the bypass idea (similar to butterflies on the AMV8 and Z06) is an interesting one.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

I'm starting to come to peace with the single rear lights. i was somewhat reluctant at first, but they don't looks as bad as i though.

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

I really hope they change the design of the rear-view mirrors

    I think they won't. Smiley

Anyway, to me they don't look that bad. Rather Enzo-ish and they should have some advantages concerning visibility as well. Smiley

Re: News on the 430 Replacement

I to have little hopes of them changing them to something more fancy, modern looking.

OTH the whole car looks rather Enzoesque, and that's a good thing IMO.

In some of the shots there was a shadow of turbo in the engine bay, I think the middle one, that is connected to side exhaust, plays a crucial rule that we'll find out later.
