I just got this post....way too late. I usually just read the posts on here and don';t post anything myself.
In the Cayenne S the little guy would be looking around and often have his head forward of the head side things that flank the back perpendicularly. I am worried about crashes in that circumstance.
In my C2S he didn't have his older brother beside him and it was less of a problem.
Sorry for not seeing your post

Hi,
I had the Porsche Junior in my Boxster (2001) with airbag deactivation kit for about 3 years and have now moved to a 911 as I have a second child now. One will ride in the front passenger seat and one will ride in the back on the same side.
So, I just got the airbag deactivation kit for my 2007 911.
Here is the problem.
On the Boxster, when you have the airbag deactivated (i.e. buckle is connected to the airbag disable recepticle), you get a nice confirmation that the airbag is disabled. The confirmation is that the airbag warning light on the instrument panel stays on for one minute after the car is started. A great subtle but noticible reminder.
However, with the 911 kit, I'm not sure what to expect. Whether I turn the airbag disable key to on or off, there does not appear to be any indicator or way of getting confirmation the airbag is really off. Neither the light on the instrument panel nor the passenger airbag disable light near the hand brake behaves any differently, regardless of whether I have the airbag disable key turned to on or off.
When I put my child in, I guess I will see that the passenger airbag disable light comes on. But, this would be the case even without the disable kit because there is a weight detector that would kick in.
Does anyone have any experience here? Did the dealer install the airbag disable kit correctly??? Do you just have to trust that the airbag is really off?
Thanks in advance
Jack

I have it on my C4S and when I disable the air bag , the light near the hand brake is on .

Thanks Gnil.
Okay, played with it a little and here is what I found on mine.
If I sit on the passenger seat then I can see that the switch works (i.e. the "passenger airbag disabled" light near the hand brake is lit when the key is turned to disable the airbag. And, the "passenger airbag disabled" light is not on when the key is turned to leave the airbag disabled.
The slightly annoying thing is that you have to have someone in the seat in order to tell if the airbag disable is working. This is fine, I suppose, as you wouldn't care about disabling the airbag if no-one was with you. I just liked the clear indication I used to have with the Boxster.
Thanks for the help.
Best
Jack
