    Re: ...

Nah I'm just the average GT-R fanboy.

Regarding the weak transmission, read this: http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=27307

He had over 600hp, drag radials, AWD, 1800kg, sticky surface and managed to do over 100 launches with the transmission. You can imagine what the transmission and drivetrain had to handle and a weak transmission wouldn't do half of it. But I keep wondering why the clutch does not fail before the transmission.

Oh and I haven't heard of any engine failures. I guess at least people won't bitch about that loo!

Source of your first link: Porsche Cars North America, Inc.

Source of your second link: Porsche

The data in the first link is from a survey as reported by AutoPacific's Vehicle Satisfaction Awards.

I didn't know JD Power was owned by Porsche, but thanks for that.

Look, if you think that an issue of some failing RMS's (which are covered by warranty) is the same or worse than grenading tranny's (not covered by warranty) caused by owners who try to replicate factory performance claims, I'm not sure what to tell you, except:

    All hail the GT-R!2.gif

    He had over 600hp,

The car comes with at least 530HP from the factory, according to Car and Driver and Motortrend, who both dyno'd the car. But Porsche probably paid them to say that.Smiley

Yeah I know. It's just that these were press releases and don't tell the whole story. They forgot to mention that Suzuki was also in the survey and God knows that performance and design are the first things you care about in a Suzuki. Apparantly a Porsche is as comfortable as a Mercedes or Lexus. The Mini got a solid 5/5 (meaning "Among the best") for its performance. I don't know...

I don't know if they do it but I think they should include the milage that each car does per year in those reliabilty statistics.

Actually, some people weren't covered by the warranty because the cars were older than 2 years (the GT-R has a 3 year warranty, haha). And there are people who went as fast as the factory claims without using launch control (http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26575).

Then you have to admit that it's the best engine out there because it doesn't seem to get the milage that a 530hp/1800kg should have.

IIRC in the comparison test between the GT-R and 997 Turbo the GT-R only used 0.6l of fuel per 100km than the Porsche, with 50hp and 200kg more. I think that's amazing.

    edit: it's 0.4L/100km more

The electronics in the GT-R are amazing, no doubt about it. It's highly efficient and probably very well built. However, for mileage testing the displacement between the two is identical. Depending on the test, it's not surprising that they would be within .5L of each other. Real world mileage in my car is nowhere near factory claims.

And mileage is not the only factor to take into account when labelling something 'the best engine out there'. Reliability, durability, maintenance requirements and costs all factor into it. IMHO the E46 M3 was the 'best engine out there' for years, and the new M5 engine probably holds that title now.

    Re: ...

I have done a tad over 6000 k's on my R35 and it's OK on Fuel Consumption for a SuperCar  but most of my driving is on Country roads away from city traffic and start stop situations.....

But what every R35 Owner will know is that this car runs incredibly rich from the Showroom and no doubt that their will be improvements to be had in 0-60 times and fuel consumption

when we install our new maps..........

PS:  The R35 has all the Boxes ticked and is the best Performance Bargain ever.......

    You'er wrong
If the GTR has 530HP ,with DSG gearbox ,it could beat  the 480HP turbo(weights 1650kg)in drag race. But it can't! The Turbo (tip or manual)is still a little faster than stock GT-R in 1/4 mile.

Read the post, I didn't say it, Motortrend and Car and Driver did. But by your logic, if the car has 480HP it can't lap the 'ring in 7:26, either.

    Re: ...

You guys are funny.......R35 will and has in real world races beaten GT2's (forget the 911Turbo)......The below are results of some of the biggest Rally Races in Australia and all

three where won by R35'S again ...well check the list below..

You boys  are looking at stats and badges like little robots.......the R35 is more then just a good engine and a fast changing dual clutch Box.....but it's the sum of all of it parts that

compliment and fuse so well that makes it not just the best performance bargain ever but

also making average drivers win major races...........

I think the GT-R is a remarkable achievement, with superior electronics and unbelievable cornering abilities and very good value for money. (Although in Germany the price difference to Porsche is more like 20-30%, not like in Australia)

The fact that average driver can win races, seems like a big advantage to me, but a lot of people say it's boring to drive.

    Re: ...

I can see your point as the Porsche is better value over there then here......but the R35 is still faster then a GT3 and beats GT2's over here.......GT2 is  $430,000 over here and must be

a lot more then the R35 even in Germany .......

With all respect it Just seems to a lot of us now that Porsche is selling their high end performance cars to the rich not the wise.........

Or to the ones wanting to drive a car that handles like a Porsche.

Regarding the price difference, see this thread:

Great video. Cant believe to see that the GTR blows the Nissan on the drag-race this strongly.

I prefer the tail happy GT3.

My 7 year ojd son prefers the  GTR

My point with the GTR was simply to respect its performance while still preferring Porsches for their overall sense of driving and ownership pleasure. Even though they are mostly slower.
