Wow! I could'nt resist a nap.

This, however, is real racing. We will actually get to see cars overtake each other (and the stewards will allow them to do so), and we will see vehicles which actually resemble cars and that actually have relevant technologies.

As I said before; motor racing porn!!

Right,

Le Mans is a race that let my heart beat,love to see when the sun goes down at night or go up at morning,with cars dirty,rain,etc....love this kind of races..

F1 has not this feel,to far from us and our cars...at least at Le Mans i can think that a sister of my car is racing,not a twin yes,but sure of the same family... the 911 family! Smiley

Just a note of interest: I have just found out that the RSR entered by the "Chinese" Team was infact lent to them by Felbermayr.

Their original RSR was the 2008 model with no A/C and so would have a tough time maintaining the cockpit temp below 32C.

Latest: I have just found out that at least , the Essex RS spyder will be using the DFI engine. I'm not sure about the Tema Goh, but it is very likeley.

There had been some speculation that these teams would be using the "older" non- DFI engine.

In fact, ESSEX had been testing with the non-DFI engine.

The speculation is that Peugeot will be faster but less fuel efficient.

To be honest, neither one gains my sympathy as they have both benefitted from very pro diesel rules that exclude others from contesting an outright win.

We are now 2 hours away from Free practice!

This session will be very important (vital) for the drivers that have little or no experience of Le Sarthe.

I expect to see many of the cars with their less experienced (but not necessarily the slowest) drivers during the first hour or so.

I also expect to see some fast times around about 8:30 - 9:30, when it becomes cool and the track begins to "rubber in". (that is if the weather is dry(er))

Don' t forget that you can follow the live commentary on Radio Le Mans as well as live timing (see the first post of this thread)

Just a note of clarification: the ACO requires that all drivers considered "rookies" (drivers that have never raced at Le Mans before) do 10 laps of the circuit before they are qualified to race.

This is why the first couple of hours will be taken up with this exercise (for some of the teams)

The Porsche Teams drivers in this situation are as follows:

Keisuke Kunimoto (Team Goh RS Spyder)

Kristian Poulsen (Team ESSEX RS Spyder)

Michel Lecourt (IMSA #74 RSR)

Darryl O Young, Philippe Hesnault, Plamen Kralev (Endurance Asia Team RSR)

Patrick Pilet (IMSA #76 RSR)

Wolf Henzler (Felbermayr #77 RSR)

Darren Law (Flying Lizards # 80 RSR)

Also - all the GT2 Ferrari F430s had failed scrutineering due to undersized bodywork around the wheel arches.

The solution has been to fit small carbon extensions to the front and rear arches. The ACO has deemed this modification as acceptable.

Both the Spyders and the RSR's were at the top of their respective classes.

Essex was the fastest in LMP2 and the #77 Felbermayr RSR was fastest in GT2.

However - Although this is a positive indication, we will see today who has the pace.

Furthermore - At Le Mans, qualifying is more about getting your picture taken, psyching your opponents, and seeing who has the fastest car over 1 lap, than it is important for the race.

As one can imagine, a pole position does not have any real significance over a 24H race.

Qualifying from 19:00 to 21:00 (European Time) and from 22:00 to 24:00 - Two sessions!

BTW - The driver name on the list are not necessarily the driver that posted the best time, but rather the one at the wheel when free practice terminated.
