SciFrog:
Not true IMHO,
Early 07 430 spiders were $400k, now below 200. Normal depreciation.
Actually my AMV8 probably has lost less % wise (35%).
That can certainly be the case for the one or 2 guys that paid $400k for an 07 Spider. Personally I didn't see any 07 Spider's sell for $400k but I don't doubt it could have happened....... "Normal depreciation" that's IF you use the very TOP premium price paid by Mr. money bags paying a huge premium in the after-market. I mean wasn't there a premium the very first AMV8's as well? We wouldn't use that to factor in normal depreciation of an AMV8, maybe there wasn't a premium don't remember, anyway:
To compare fairly imo it would be more accurate to use the price people buying cars from dealerships/majority of cars sold - for the new Spider which was MSRP.
MSRP "early 07 Spider" = approx/depending on options = $225k
Then using your : "now below $200k"
"35%" depreciation would be $145k
No doubt prices have come way down but still hardly at "normal depreciation" levels for the majority of guys that paid sticker/ not counting the few cars that were sold at $150k + premiums. I mean I wouldn't pay over, how many here paid $150k over for a 430?
The depreciation on my 430 doesn't compare to the "normal depreciation" on my 997 Turbo Cab.
Dunno if anyone has looked at the Lambo market lately but $65k off NEW is where the market is at for Gallardo's. 430 Spider's at my dealer are still selling at MSRP & that's at the very tail end of production AND w/ the recession. I haven't seen any other car that does that/still sells around msrp after 4-5 year run & sells in the #'s that the 430 sold. It's not the 'norm' imho.
