That's frigging fast for "WinterReifen".

I guess ye olde rear engined 911 design still gives other makers more than a run for their money
IMO, it all points that there is a significant step from the MkI to the MKII, probably in part from the improved aerodinamics because the ring is such a fast track, but until HvS tests it, I wouldn't give much credit to factory claims now a days, even Porsche's which tended to be the most conservative compared to other makers. For us, 5 seconds up or down means a lot, and with factory claims you have a bigger margin than that for it to be comparable to other cars.

Fantastic time. I like the line "with a knife between his teeth".. what a visual.
@Aum, it would be interesting to see how fast Suzuki could lap a GT3. It would be great to have Rohrl in a GT-R and Suzuki in a GT3 on the same day and see how fast each could get to the other drivers' claimed times.
AUM:
I wonder why Porsche mentioned that WR did 7.45 in an F430 when HvS achieved 7.39 for Sport Auto? It makes Walter look a bit slow in non-Porsches.
maybe, it was on a damp road surface
And he was quick to reassert that according to Porsche, the Nissan GT-R still does no better than the 7 min/54 sec they managed last year with a U.S.-spec model -- and not the 7min/29.03 sec mark Nissan claims.

My bet in a Porsche - Nissan race with factory drivers
1. V-spec
2. GT2
3. GTR
4. GT3
with just a few seconds between them.

But I would still choose the GT3. 7.40ish is fast enough for me and the GT3 is the purest sports car of the group..

Judging by his GT-R lap claims, Suzuki is worth 20 seconds bellow anybody else in the ring, so that would yield the GT3-MKII a lap in 7:20
I don't know, he'd go into a corner too hot and wait for the electronics to make him look like hero and that would be the end of the lap.
