     I remember that Autobild ran a story around that time that the 997 would get a folding hardtop. It's possible Porsche dropped the idea.

    Personally, I'd love the elegant soft top in the spy picture.

    I just wanted to say that I don't thinkthis can be anything else than the new 911 because Porsche even said that it was a 911 proto when their engineer crash and died in one. This is the new 911 with a folding hardtop.

    All metal folding roofs become noisy after some time: windnoise, cluttering...Smiley

    Why would Porsche have two hard-top 911s  (and  targa)  ???     It is a soft-top with some new ( Hi-Tech - dirth reppeling ( on all pics. roof is very clean / 'black' )) fabrics and more advanced folding - stretching  mechanism .

    I hear Porsche is going to be offering these side vent decals as an option for non-turbo owners to "rice up" their cars.

    I am with you .  Soft tops have much more charm.....and are ' pure' .  I would not like a folding hard top on a 911.

    That would be actuelly a real bargain...much cheaper then in the past where you had to put dowm EUR 7000 to get a C4S ( 996 ) turbo look alike without the air vents. Smiley

    My feeling is that this is not a 991 test mule.  To me it looks like a 997.2 special edition like RS (not GT3) or America.  If you notice the little fin (mini spoiler) above the rear window is missing.

    Thoughts ?
