Having just joined this forum these threads make interesting reading.

My 997.2 C2 in Nordic Gold with sports exhaust is due any day now (if my dealer bothers to call me back!) . Seems the colour is a 'love it or hate it' option on these forums and the verdict on the PSE is still out.

As the sun is virtually perma-shining here the Nordic Gold will look great and the issue of resale for brighter colours out here is less of a concern. The pics of one from Bahrain on another thread looked fantastic.

I'll let you know how the PSE sounds once it is run in.

I like this colour but on other people's cars. I enjoy looking at it (at least on a Cayenne GTS I see often) but not owning one.

According to the video's title: "Ein neuer Porsche 997 S DI mit Klappenauspuffanlage", this is a direct-injection Mk 2 with an exhaust system fitted with a flap, but no mention is made of whether it is an OEM or after-market system.

hey fritz, thanks for the quick response!!, I really have to start some german novice lessons!!!

I also thought it was some type of aftermarket exhaust or just a modification in the flaps to open more the sound (as some owners have done in their 996's)...also just as like you said there is no ¨text¨ describing is the new pse...

I am afraid PSE won't sound like in this video....let's see if with some running in, sounds similar!!

Anybody got a date yet for a retrofit? I chased mine yesterday and was told there is still no date on the UK system for availability. Having come from a Gen1 C2S with PSE I am finding my new Gen2 C2S PDK somewhat lacking in the sound department and I cant wait to restore the growl!

Do any of the lucky owners of a factory fit Gen2 PSE here have any news on if there is a Gen1 brown plug equivalent to disconnect for the always on or indeed a definative statement that it cant be or doesnt need to be disconnected?

Got a call from my OPC that my car has arrived yesterday (C4S CAB PDK PSE) I was so excited that I had to do the 70mile trip to Silverstone to have a look Smiley the sports exhaust looks good and sounds very loud Smiley The only disappointment was that Porsche decided to fit the car with Bridgestones and not the normal michelin PS2's. Is there any disadvantage or advantage. I will post the pics very soon after the car has been prep'ed Smiley

as per retrofitting, Porsche Silverstone has a display in the showroom for the cost to fit the PSE so I'm guessing this could be done right away.

From my experience Bridgestone's on the Carrera are more quiet and make the ride little more comfortable. They are supposed to be less sporty than PS2, a thing I haven't been able to determine because I hadn't driven the Bridgestone car extensively.

Don't worry because tyres don't last very long (depending on roads and speed of course) and you'll get a chance to choose whatever brand you like soon.

I took delivery of my C2S Cab on Monday and was told by the parts manager than the PSE was now in their computer system and is available for order. I got Pirellis on my car.

Ok, PSE was already ordered by our dealer this past week (Friday to be exact), so in no time we should receive the call to send the car for retro-fit....So check out with yuor dealer, because you can already order them.... In fact our dealer has a carrera 4S or Targa 4S (i can't remember) in white colour with PSE already ordered from factory , and by this time the car has to be already delivered to its owner, who specced the car with every option as possible !!!....

Let's see who posts the video first !!! Smiley

anybody got a decent answer, or better still first hand experience of if the 'always on' mod can be applied to gen2 PSE (aka the brown plug disconnect)????

This is almost as big as if PSE sounds loud to me...

Did you see the post from SoCal Alan? He warned there may be problem using the plug mod and suggested using the hose method instead.

May be worth checking if this method is available for the 997.2...

Member just received his C4S with factory PSE and says there is no need for any mod. Factory now includes a PSE button that turns it on all the time. No need to turn on Sport mode.

If so Im not sure where he gives anything definate on switching 'on' via the dash button being really 'on' all the time. Gen1 had its own button if you didnt have chrono but it still muted the sound between 30-50mph to meet noise regs, exactly the same as for those with chrono who activated PSE via the sport button instead. Some people thought 'on' via the relevant button meant it was full on all the time... however if u unplugged it then it truely was on all the time and was significantly louder between 30-50 than with it 'on' but still plugged in. Sportchrono sport button or seperate PSE button made no difference here, both were much louder when unplugged. I suspect the same will be true on gen2 PSE too for the same reasons - to meet noise regs, and more to the point because it can due to the fact it clearly has variable baffles to enable the switching on and off!

John - I do take onboard the vaccum hose -v- unpluggin comments though but these indicate to me in principle that once again 997.2 PSE will mute the sound midrange and therefore . Again on gen1 when it first came out lots of people suggested the vaccum route as preference over the unpluggin but in time both became accepted as equally effective solutions.

Until we hear first hand from a member who has tried it on his/her own car then everything it still just speculation - hence why im asking above for anyone with first hand experience of trying to unplug a gen2 PSE for themselves.

Cant believe none of the forum Gen2 PSE owners here have yet tried unplugging, it was such a huge sound improvement on Gen1 PSE. Hopefully I will have mine within a couple of weeks (whenever I finally get my dealer to confirm the parts are available for retrofit in the UK) and I will certainly be unplugging mine on the first day if it is at all possible! Come on guys, dont be slacking here and letting me get a world first! Smiley

I ordered PSE today as retrofit. They assured me fitting is easy without much dismantling inside the car.
