    Re: Incoming GT2

I feel the CG/RS Tuning 600PS/787NM kit is in my car's future but am struggling to find any enthusiasm looking at how many Euros our Pound currently buys

    TB993tt,

Congrats to your new car! I have had mine for 8 months now and feel very happy with the car. But after a while I started to reduce the weight and now it is time to encrease the power ( you guys recognize the pattern? ) . Regarding the RS-Tuning kit 600PS/787Nm I feel it is a safe bet. Do you intend to upgrade the clutch or the pressure plate? PM sent.

    regards

Feel very privileged being able to drive this amazing thing every day....

Here is a data reading of my recent maximum speed attempts on the Autobahn, seemed to hit an aerodynamic brick wall at around 195 mph taking a long time to hit 200

BTW, did you really install a kit rasing the hp output to 542hp? I mean, this is just 12hp more than standard, right... Smiley

The kit was supposed to give the engine dyno power and torque numbers below:

The Manthey dyno said I had the numbers below:

Cargraphic are exaggerating with the 560PS claims..... this is with just headers and 200 cell cats, the ECU is standard and what I think happens is the exhaust mods allow the surge in torque as per the Manthey diagram (it certainly feels a genuine 736NM in my experience this number is correct) then the ECU pulls the strings to bring everything back within its programmed ranges and hence the maximum power does not change much....

An ECU tune is needed - watch this space Smiley

    Re: Incoming GT2

My compliments for your car! Pure joy to look at. I can only imagine how it is to drive.

The only non-standard exterior feature is the wheels, but they make such an impact Smiley

What make and size are the rims and tyres?

Also is the colour GT Silver?

    Re: Incoming GT2

    Thanks again guys....

The wheels are Dymag Magnalium centres with carbon fibre rim 9X19 and 12X19 in offsets to require no spacers.

The sales guy at Manthey somewhat aggressively told me how these wheels were "dangerous" and not TUV approved and was somewhat upset when I pointed to their GT2 wearing its Manthey Magnesium cross spokes and told him I thought theirs looked a little old fashioned, were a bit heavy (in comparison) and that the spacers used made the wheels look aftermarket  - He was particularly pissed off when one of his colleagues exclaimed how much better my car looked with the Dymags in comparison to theirs

Dymag are a UK company who have been making wheels for 30 years for all levels of motorsport and industrial usage (trains) and these wheels have been severely tested, the older magnesium centres which were used did have the usual magnesium issues but these latest ones are supposed to be bullet proof - we'll see....

The extreme low gyroscopic effect of these rims really makes the car feel so deft at the helm, it truely dances and changes direction amazingly, better even than the Carrera GT IMO

They do look great Toby those wheels.  Do you know how they compare with the new HRE Dymag wheels?

I am actually quite tempted given all the glowing reports from people with Dymag wheels

    I love these...

    Price?

    Weights
    A 19x9.0" weighs 17.2-lbs.
    A 19x12.0 weighs 19.6lbs.
    A 20x12.0" weighs 20.6-lbs.

Weight savings would be 25 to 35lbs over stock wheels. Amazing, in conjunction with PCCB that would be 75 lbs of unsprung weight!

    Re: Incoming GT2

    Love the car, true beauty!

I'm still not convinced about the practical use of the CF wheels, since repairability will be hell. However, I think that they are a technological piece of art. Could you please post a picture of the area where the spokes touch the rim? Really curious how they bonded the metal to the carbon...

Amazing  TB , any update about intercoolers? thanks

    Re: Incoming GT2

Reginos, the spokes are bolted through the CF....... I exchanged quite a bit of technical info with Dymag before purchase and (obviously) gained enough confidence that they are as sturdy as any alloy wheel. Have to add the wheels are so beautiful that they sat on my table as "art" for about 3 weeks during the winter as I couldn't bring myself to get them dirty Smiley

Alcyon, No updates yet but I have comissioned a set of expensive units, will keep you posted when they arrive in 6-8 weeks

    Re: Incoming GT2

    stunning wheels!

    I read about this:

Weight will be very comparable to the Dymag weights for wheels of similar dimensions. The wheel weights will not be dramatically lower but substantial enough below other competitors.

These come courtesy Alan Peltier (COO HRE Wheels).

    1. Weight – We do not have a lot of weights yet, but a CF43 for a GT3RS at 19x9.0 weighs 17.2lbs and a 19x12.0 weighs 19.6lbs. We have been told this is almost exactly what a Dymag wheel weighs for the same application. The biggest wheel we’ve weighed, a CF43 in 20x12.0 for a ZR1 weighs 20.6lb. More weights to follow.

    2. Passed fatigue tests to TUV specifications at a load rating sufficient for M5 and Panamera Turbo.

    3. Contrary to popular myth, the carbon rims do not weigh 2 lbs. Dymag is conservative in their construction to ensure strength first and foremost and the rims typically account for 50%+ of the entire wheel weight.

    4. There is a rumor that Dymag is not making centers anymore. This is not true. They will continue to sell their own branded line of wheels but HRE has an exclusive partnership with Dymag to use their rims.

    5. Fitments will vary. Currently HRE is offering 19" and 20" in various widths. 18" and 22" will likely follow.

    6. Finishes are standard HRE powdercoats and custom paints as well as brush/cl or pol/cl. No chrome. No full polish.

    7. HRE is well aware of leaking issues and worked with Dymag on the carbon barrels to ensure that leakage at the bead was solved and designed the centers to minimize any chance of leakage through the fasteners in addition to the changes made by Dymag to resolve this issue. It shouldn’t be a concern for an HRE or a current Dymag.

Don't forget that the fact that the lightest part of the wheel is the part furthest from the axis of rotation means that the effective reduction in rotational inertia is even greater than the reduction in overall wheel mass. This doesn't affect the handling benefits, which are related to total mass, but it *will* help acceleration to some degree.

Just the Maha dyno test to see what the Cargraphic/RS stuff actually did. Frankly the sales guy Jan was IMO completely clueless but that is probably because he is not used to selling to anoraks like me - my BS detector was off the scale !

FWIW, I don't think that your use of the noun "anoraks" in this context will be understood as you intended it to be anywhere outside of the UK.  Smiley
