    Re: Panamera in Shanghai

Let me guess. The last photo is one you like? Maybe it's because her fat back isn't in the picture

    Re: Panamera in Shanghai

I think it looks really good, especially in the video. Lines are very Porsche-like.

    Re: Panamera in Shanghai

IMO, what spoils the appearance of this car is the absolutely hideous rear end. But people have been buying the BMW 5 series so there must be a market for such ugly cars.

    Re: Panamera in Shanghai

I must admit that in static pictures the car is ungainly from some angles. However from all videos (3D view) I've seen the car looks impressive and svelte for a saloon. It's like someone's face you don't see it from one angle (that could possibly not be the most flattering) but the view you have is spherical and hence the impression totally different.

Talking about ugly rears what about the BMW 6, which is very popular in most markets.

the bump on the trunk may not be perfect, but it's a real tough sell to say this is ugly. In fact it is a car that has held up well imo since release. I like it a lot. Saw one the other day.

    Re: Panamera in Shanghai

Actually I like the comparisson of the BMW 6 and Panamera rear. They have some commonalities. I think the biggest is indeed the bulky trunk and rearview. They look like an contamiant on those sporty cars, where the Front is great and super on both.

    Shut the trunk pleaseSmiley

I am not saying that the 6 series is ugly overall. But the ungainly rear trunk (which IMO is much less harmonious and less successfully styled  than Panamera's) hasn't stopped it being a sales success.

If they tidy up the rear I might consider the next 6 myself.

Yes the 6 trunk is a little awkward but it is not abominable. The rear light should go into the trunk a little and the bump toned down. But that is minor compared to panamera.

The 6 looks great from the side, the panamera lousy. To mess up the 6 equally you would have to stick an imaginary air hose into the back and blow it up out of proportion.

I really liked the panamera sketch and some magazine designs but the real thing really has no saving grace except a head on view. The rest of the exterior is beyond salvage.

The panamera engine compartment though looks very nice.

The overall 6 impression is still sleek.m6 pic.jpg

    Re: Panamera in Shanghai

I appreciate both cars in spite of their styling weaknesses because they both have strong redeeming features stylistically and engineering-wise.

The Panamera in videos is much better than in still pictures and therefore I reserve final judgement until I see one in the metal.

You are joking right? The 6 has the ugliest Bangle butt of all, and sleek? My god the Panamera's butt is a million times better.

    Re: Panamera in Shanghai

+1 that is better , but -1 that the butt of the 6 is so ugly

You took the words right out of my mouth. I expect the car to handle superbly, the interior looks really good, but the ridiculous hideous rear end is Porsche's biggest blunder of the decade.
