Extremely cool looking car - eventhough as per various magazines still to heavy to produce top numbers - but must be a blast to cruise around with 1000nm.....missing yr ex SL a bit ?
Actually - not missing mine one bit 1000nm you can't feel through automatic gearbox.
those pics were taken here, at this track in france. I have never seen a better looking area of countryside from above than this.
That would be the Rennteam dream residential community - 5 acre lots with large garages and at least 1 lift on wide curvy streets surrounding this track;
We'll call it Rennteam Estates;
The car looks decent in this striking red paint but the modifications over the regular AMG model can still be traced down as a Hot Wheel´s designer´s wet dream...
It surprises me that people prefer this car over similiarly controversial designs such as the Panamera or BMW´s X6M model.
pimp my benz....while there is a certain appeal one cannot deny, the retail price of this car is beyond me.
i'd have to be a real mercedes nut to not look elsewhere.
but i guess the same can be said for porsche gt2 buyers....
i was referring to where the gt2 stands pricewise in the porsche world. double carrera s money. most people would go for an f or a lambo for that money.....
many people buy the show and not the heritage or identity.
Rossi this thing comes with 750 ft/lbs torque (1000 nm). 0-62 3.9sec
Plus this is a Luxury GT with an awesome interior that can do well at the track. not to mention carbon fiber body parts and the exclusivity that some here feel is worth something.
One of the most desirable cars on the market today.
Great video - shows interior, track time and facts.
I like this SL Black very much.
IMO the SL (generally and in every era) is the only other car in the world that has the same wide-spread recognition and personality, charisma and lasting allure as the 911. I know different types of car, different priorities and buyers but they are both automotive legends.

Love the curve on the left upper corner!!!
There is a very disappointing test of the SL Black in the current issue of Autocar (UK magazine).
Conclusion, not good for the track and not good enough for the road. It doesn't justify its £250K price tag.
I wanted this SL to be a defining car and I feel disappointed

You can sleep in the garages.

What if that guy likes vanilla and you like chocolate?
I would never let a review or impression from someone else sway me in the least.
Cars have to be driven for oneself to determine suitability. I hardly ever look ar car mags, I leave that to teenagers who are dreaming of having something.

I know what you mean and I mostly agree.
Their test and comments are so damning for the car.....no one can believe them that it is so bad.

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts
I read plenty of test-reviews of this car. Unfortunatley all of them have been very negative. People are saying the car is not able to put the power on the street. Very strange!
The look is to much 80is for me.
All over - why should someone buy such a car if you can have for the same money fast and well performing and also good looking competitors?

+1
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
This car is for die hard M-B fans (and there plenty all over the world) who want to own the most powerful and wild SL. Another prerequisite IMO is for the potential buyer to like tuners' cars because this version is the closest a factory car can get to a tuners' offering.
There will be plenty of buyers although personally I wouldn't buy such a car even if I could afford it. It's like Porsche producing a version that looks like a Gemballa.
