I still don't like the looks of that thing.
I'm really starting to like it!!!, its something different from competitors, the more I look to it, the more I like it....
I just hope the true utility of this option (aka Sound note), is as expected, not just another marketing option....At least it has to sound as good as PSE for 997.1

What is interesting is that if you look at the interior picture below the PCM it confirms that the PSE will have its own switch even on cars with Sports Chrono...
This is a big +++ IMO

I think this is Arpil's fool , or at least he uploaded a video with the pse off (which is quite rare)...
Also, why only upload a soundclip and not an entire videoclip ??, I think this is not PSE FOR 997.2, in fact that sound is just as similar(or I would say the same) as a stock exhaust of any 997.2
On the other hand if this is the real exhaust sound with PSE on, then it must be the biggest fraud porsche has done.

"Klappenauspuff " = Exhaust? :)

The tips do look like the new PSE.

Finally !!!!!
It sounds with more growl, but it isn't a drastic change, may be the video does not capture the real sound, but I think and judging from this video, that pse in 997.1 is much much better, just switching the pse in the 1rst generation 997 was a difference in note at idle, in this video, that sound note difference was not so clear....at least me.
Lets hope it sounds more sportier in real !!

does the pse only change the sound of the exhaust, or are there improvements in power too?
Officially no, in practice it might add less than 10HP at the flywheel which is immaterial really on a 385HP car (S model).
By comparison the Brombacher switchable exhaust gives 15HP extra but it removes the presilencer.
Visited my local Porsche-dealer today and they had a Targa4S in the showroom with PSE so I took some pictures with my mobilephone. Unfortunately I didn't hear the exhaust-sound, but according to the sales manager the sound is more high-pitched than on 997.1 PSE but lack some of the growl. He also mentionted that the always-on "hack" by removing the electrical cable in the engine compartment is still possible to do on the 997.2 PSE . So this might be good news for all 997.2 owners.
I think it lookw way better in real life than on the pictures, but still can't decide if I like it or not. It for sure differentiate from the standard exhaust and they look kind of unique. What I don't like is the inner exhaust. It's like three layers with different shapes and form and it looks very busy...
And the pictures:
What happens if the sound is not to the owners liking? What if the sound really is not that different from the Off position?
I am one of those that delayed my order to have the PSE installed after February and my car is expected within the month. What happens if Ido not like the sound and tell my dealer it is not worth the $2,500 up charge?

The sound will be better then the standart, that is for shure.... now if you realy don't like it , you will have to go for aftermarket and accept you have lost your bet .
I liked the growl of my old 997.1 PSE very much...... I hope the new one has not lost too much of that, but in the small video posted above it had lost it..... maybe by driving it a few 1000 km it will come back

Gnil, if we are correct about the loss of growl, let's hope it sounds better when covering some kms.
This week I saw one of various 911 models we use to see in a week, it was a basic manual 997.1 Carrera equipped with PSE (just the basic carrera with the basic wheels), I'm sure it had some good kms done, as I saw the wheels where damaged by parking careless, the interior leather was very used, the steering wheel too, and also the license plate reflected it was a car registered in 2005/2006, just one of the first examples of the 997.....Well, I was drinking in a bar terrace next to the car where it was parked. The owner suddenly was leaving, unlocked the car, started the engine, and the growl was just LOUD LOUD, he went reverse and at the same time playing with the throttle, more than 50% of the people sitting in the terrace where literally watching the car.... Very nice sound indeed.....Lets hope we can say this in some months time with PSE v.2!!!

Pic showing the ass for you Alex . Sorry for the bad quality and the weird looking colours, but it's not a good combo with mobilecamera and the built in flash. LOL. The car is in guards red but look purple
