Visited my Ferrari dealer today and how times

    have changed!

Couple of new 430 Spiders sitting on the floor selling at MSRP and they cannot sell them. Also, a beautiful red Scud with grey strips selling at MSRP. A Ferrari broker I know is trying to sell a 2008 Spider with 800 miles. The best offer he has received is $165,000.Smiley

My belief is once the stock market begins an upward climb the car market will change but for now it is dead.

Re: Visited my Ferrari dealer today and how times

Stock market won't go up for a long while. You just have to hope your dealer is still around next year. And the way to do this is to buy a car from him...

Surely you gave them stradale's email, so they know where to send the invoice. Hopefully you only left smudges on Heist's car and not mine.Smiley

Sounds like it's time to trade-in my 2005 997S for a new Ferrari.  Let's see, I'll probably get 25K for it. Smiley

I have been trying to sell my 997 C4S since september. I had 1 serious offer, but the client pulled out at the last moment and I had one other unaxeptable offer !!!!!  Two offers in 6 month !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiley

And my price is about 15% lower then prices in 2007

Sadly, i've been trying to sell my little ford focus as i dont use a car much right now being a student and i want to get some cash out of it before it's worth nothing. However, local BC market is virtually completely dead and or stalled. Only deals go are new cars with 0 interest rate...

Automotive dealers say next month will be a little better, but that could very well be wishful thinking. It's a time to buy!!! I'm looking at a 914 or another 944 again Smiley

hehe Aaron, good luck with that. But don't buy the best deals now OK? I might be coming to Seattle soon for my work, and in the back of my head a little voice is telling me to buy a nice car over there... ;-)

    +1

One of the joys of owning a car from a good brand, is that it ages very well and its quality shows more with years.

It is no offence to own a car for 10 years or more, even forever, and enjoy it thoroughly as a companion. Unfortunately, many people get into the consumption trap and they want the latest model and in the process they cry because they lose a lot of money. What is worse, during the ownership of a car thay are so afraid to use it or abuse it (why not?) because they always think of the next owner at resale!

Re: Visited my Ferrari dealer today and how times

Nick did you sell your spider in the end?

In my mind the ferrari ponzi scheme in the US is finally over. Now that the music stopped a lot of people will experience the reality of depreciation in cars. I hope they can afford it.

Same in Germany. In many cases its the greedy dealers who hold the stock...

Good for those who are long cash...

Re: Visited my Ferrari dealer today and how times

Too a certain extent it was necessary that these crazy markets came to normalized levels again. I can recall reading F-Chat with crazy guys just talking about extraordinary premia on new cars, cars as "investment" etc. all day long..

In the end a car is a consumable. No investment but a devestment of funds. This crisis will bring that insight back into the markets. Only the true car fans will remain loyal buyers as they buy cars to use and to enjoy despite the depreciation incurred Smiley

a car is just worth the sum of its parts plus company and dealer profits. premiums are just hot air.

i for one would never pay a premium....sooner or later everything is available at retail or a discount.

Precisely, that is why I have just decided I'm not selling/trading any more cars. The hit you take is just not worth it. Instead I have decided to add more garages Smiley I wouldn't waste my time trying to sell anything right now, just enjoy what you have and wait for the storm to pass over.

I love how you think Smiley

Re: Visited my Ferrari dealer today and how times

No I have not sold it. I had one buyer agree on a price and at the last minute he found a similar car for $15,000 less in  another state. The dealership is anxious to sell the car and has it listed at a very attractive price. They could not believe someone sold a similar car at the price the buyer claimed to have bought it for.Smiley

I guess some are just dumping their cars. I have had a couple of offers at unrealistic prices and turned them down. I may take the car back and drive it until things get better.

Regarding the Ponzi scheme, at this moment there is no such thing. But wait until the 430 replacement comes out. The situation will turn around and buyers will scramble to get on the list. Also, I am not sure what role the CA GT will play in this market. The demand is soft though delaerships claim to have a long list for the car. Yet the car was introduced last fall and I don't believe any deliveries have been made in the US and don't anticipate any until late into the summer.

Re: Visited my Ferrari dealer today and how times

I think it was about time that the crazy F market in the US is calming down. Lets be honest, its kind of weired that official dealers are claiming over MSRP?

I dont think that the F430 is going up again. The new one fill in October will give him the final push to start the down-trend.

Re: Visited my Ferrari dealer today and how times

Though there are ways dealers try to circumvent Ferrari policy regarding selling a car at MSRP, my understanding is Dealers are now toeing the line and offering new cars it MSRP. This has nothing to do with demand or economy but rather enforcement by Ferrari. Violators are punished severely with loss of allocation now and in the future.
