Ferdie:On the 997S PDK I drove, "Normal" treats the engine like a diesel, not at all sporting and out of character with a sports car, changing up at very low revs - I guess this is partly to achieve the lower emissions and fuel economy. "Sport Plus" is the exact opposite and probably best for track use. "Sport" setting I found about right, an ideal compromise between the two extremes.
SportPlus mode might be too harsh for everyday driving, apart from the mechanical stress on the gearbox. The car uses 7th gear as often as possible in normal mode and performs upshifts as soon as possible - should be good for dense traffic.

That´s my observation as well. My comment referred to driving conditions where one would prefer a relaxed driving, e.g. in dense traffic or with grandma on the passenger seat.

Sport mode is the most sportscar-like for the road. Sport Plus is very inappropriate for any road from my short experience, especially since with every touch of the brake pedal it drops a gear or two and it can drop to 1st gear which is unwanted.
But don't dismiss the standard mode. In everyday city driving and even congested highway driving it is relaxing, economical and stress-free for the mechanicals. This cannot be appreciated during a test drive when you want to expreience the car's performance most of all.
