Use more CF parts, add another 20hp, bump the redline upto 8,700RPM, delete PCM & Speakers and that's it!
Weight approx. 1,280 kg
0 - 100: 3,6s
0 - 200: 11.5s
Top Speed: 320km/h
I'd put down a deposit tomorrow
I love day dreaming
RC:
GT3 RS should be available next year, maybe even late this year.

Any equipment rumors you can share, besides the obvious Single Mass Flywheel and Wider rear fender? 4.0L maybe?
Thanks
RC:
I have to admit that the new GT3 looks pretty good, not only on pictures but on paper too.
12.3 seconds from 0-200 kph(125 mph), this is pretty impressive for a 3.8 l 6-cyl. Boxer engine equipped car at almost 1500 kg weight(EC standard incl. driver, etc.).
I actually think that the GT3 MkII is by far the best value right now in the Porsche model program, with the exception of the lower priced new Cayman S maybe.

Played around with the car configurator a bit. Here's what came out:
997C2S with PDK, Sport-PASM, Bucketseats, PSE, SportChrono Plus: CHF 175k
Now compare this with the announced base price for the GT3: CHF 178k
I know what I would go for if I were to order a new car today....

bostonmini:You would be surprised.
Its nice the 'old' engine is still in use, if it makes it to the turbo, this will be good news as well!

I don't think you are comparing same things here.
IMO with the GT3 you would need to own another car, whilst the Carrera would have all your needs covered.
Now, if you own several good cars and you want one Porsche for part-time use including tracking then the GT3 is a very good proposition.

x838nwy:No PDK with GT3, maybe with RS...
While this may miff-off the purists, does anyone know if PDK will be available? Wonder what the acceleration times would look like with it...

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts
"part-time use including tracking" is exactly the usage my current 997 sees, and for that (and me), the comparison works just fine.
However, I certainly agree that the 997C2S covers more bases than the GT3 and that it is more usable as an everyday car.

It's interesting to reflect back on the list of potential options that Rennteam suggested to Mr Preninger back in February 2007... it seems that Porsche does pay attention to customer feedback!
Subject: 997 GT3 potential options...
(14 February 2007)
An updated list of GT3 options for Mr Andreas Preuninger to consider for the MY08...
GT3 MY08 options:
* PDK dual-clutch gearbox
* GT3 power upgrade (e.g. 3.8 litre version of GT1 block with 438bhp at 115bhp/litre)
* GT3 Cup style competition mesh grills to protect front radiators
* Button to raise front axle to increase front ground clearance (below 20mph)
* PASM non-active mode, with 3 fixed settings
* GT3 engine start button
* Alcantara dashboard
GT3 Club Sport options:
* PASM delete option
* Single-mass flywheel
* Sunroof delete option (for the US market)
* Carbon fibre roof panel, doors and rear lid
* Bucket seats in leather/alcantara
* Sport mode as default setting
* Full integrated roll-cage
* Race-spec brake pads
* Shorter gear ratios
* 18 inch GT3 Cup alloys
GT3 Comfort options:
* Rear seat option
* 4-wheel drive option (997 GT4)
* Wide-body with red rear reflector strip
* iPod integrated stereo
* Full leather/alcantara steering wheel (no Volcano Grey)
* Minor switchgear quality upgrade
* GT3 key with programmable remote options
* Additional TC "monsoon setting"
* Michelin Pilot Sport road tyres
* Road-spec front spoiler lip

It's also interesting to note that the suggestion to offer rear seats as an option for the GT3 seems to be a recurring theme and would certainly broaden the customer base!
...perhaps Mr Preuninger could keep that in mind for the 991 GT3!

Three reasons they are unlikely to consider that option:
-it is likely to canabalise more profitable sales for them (ie Carreras, Cayennes and Panameras)... It is always suggested that these other ranges help to off-set the development costs and suggested lower returns of the small scale GT programs
-parents of children spending time in the back of a GT3 are likely to sue for GT3-itis, a new medical condition which is a combination of deafness and making strange engine sounds in their sleep ...
-and they would be kissing away the opportunity to sell us two Porsches, one to cruise with the family (ie. Carrera, upcoming Panamera) and one to hoon/track with (the gt3)....
