I have to defend the C63 a bit. Having driven the M3 and the C63 I must say in terms of "fun-factor" the C63 with it's growl, torque and straight line speed is hard to top which is confirmed in numerous shows (clarkson) & magazines. Nobody buys a C63 to compete on a race track. Having read the last SA - HvS just talks academical facts without any emotion-factor...which is why I am reading EVO or CAR only to get real idea. Not all of us go frequently to the track and t4 have a total different set of priorities...
Yes, but given the advantages you mention, Mercedes should make the effort to make it fast not only on the straights but on the challenging routes too, that you have plenty in switzerland.
In this way it would be a more complete performance car and I am sure Mercedes know how to do this.

I am not defending Mercedes here since yr right by saying that they do absolutely NOT have any track-tool - but that is exactly my point.
For a few Euros more they have something for the track oriented driver
BTW a buddy with a 964 3.8 RS was chasing one of the instructor cars (C 63 with a pro behind the wheel) during the Sportauto training on the 'Ring last year. After 2 and a half laps the instructor had to exit at Breidscheid with melting brakes....

1300 kg vs 1800 kgs or more....unless you have ceramics all brakes will melt with such weights. I joined a track day in a 964RS around Monza once and when we drove back there were no more wholes in the front brakes visible...but what you mentionned happens also to the M3's that day - one guy even had flames out of the brakes on his m3 which luckly has been discovered upon his return to the box and the Ferraris went home on the trailer..
The 964 is one of my all time favorate - (did u see the price development of the 964RS)
but hardly comparable with a C63....
