New Porsche museum
ClassicDriver documented the relocation of Porsche´s exhibition cars from their storage housing to the new Porsche museum. The Grand opening is rumoured to be held in February 2009.

I do not like the way wendell runs porsche. He must be thinking that if they prominently display some mint 928's and show-off it's ahead of it's time features and engineering visitors will be leaving the museum asking why they don't produce a new 928 instead of the panamessa.

Thanks for the link, I looked at all the pics and can only find 2 "examples of 928" in the museum. I think the building design and layout is very nice if maybe a little small compared to BMW Welt and the Mercedes museum.
And in its role as a MUSEUM, except for the 917 display it seems to be lacking and is actually more of a giant 911 showroom. ( i know i have not been there but i looked at more than 100 photo's and am assuming that is fairly representative of the experience.
Anyway, the 928 deserves it's own little space as it was the flagship for 17 years, ferry's favorite, and lifted the company internally technically and externally in image.
Here is the extent to which they exhibit the 24 years of 928 (7 development and 17 sales) an extremely dull early version with incorrect wheels (D-90's instead of phone dials) that looks like it was parked in the sun for the last 20 years and the other example, an oddity they gave to Ferry for his 75th birthday.

Here is what they could have done in it's own little room/area if this was a "museum" of Porsche history. They could celebrate and educate visitors on how important the 928 was to Porsche. Welcome people in with the photo of Ferry with the early 928.
Then have the cut-away version that they must still possess in some warehouse showing the advanced construction and use of lightweight materials from the aluminum body to magnesium intake parts. Stress the 50-50 weight balance.
Then as artwork build of real engine parts the 2 valve 4.7 litre exploded view to display the best looking V-8 engine ever built imo.

Then the poster of the movie Risky Businness that gave the 928 and Porsche a lot of press, play the scenes from the movie on a wall size video.
Then show the video of the world speed record held be the 928;
And finally show some decent looking examples of the 928 that have actually been well cared for, like mine below, that aren't strangers to a tin of wax. It should definately include a GT and a 928 GTS. That's what I would do if I ran the PORSCHE MUSEUM .

Some cool things they are showing;
a great looking race version of either the 944 or it might be the 924GT (rare car)
Tires with the porsche emblem molded into them, would be a big seller if put on the market;
And this, what looks to be a 917 or 962, which should be the basis for an ultra top end street model powered by some 700 hp engine. They have made so much money on stocks etc. they should put some of that to work with new models that are desirable instead of what they just came out with. ;
