You bought the wrong Toyota, I had the same issue in my 1999 & 2006 Land Cruiser Smiley no problems with my 2009 Lexus LX570 and 1994 Supra Turbo, but still nothing like GT2's PCCB.

    --

It was back in 1988...the Supra Turbo was new and very expensive for a japanese car and of course there was no Lexus by that time (Lexus = just a marketing trick rip-off brand to charge more money for a Toyota, started on the US market and continued, not with much success, in Europe).

The Toyota Celica 4WD was my second japanese "adventure", the first one was an Isuzu Turbo Diesel off-roader because I needed a car for my work in Eastern Europe.

I was "cured" from buying japanese cars. Smiley

Can't say much better things about italian cars though.

Btw: today I drove an Audi S4. This is no real sportscar but it proves to me that you can get the hell of a car for "acceptable" money even from a "premium" manufacturer.

Whenever I think of buying a Japanese car a brake upgrade is a MUST - ex Nissa Patrol 6-piston endless 360 mm

    ex - Cayenne Turbo stock

Re: Nissan GT-R test in Sport Auto

My first ever car was new Honda Prelude, great chasis but after use I had to replace brake discs because of warping due to hard driving (no track use just street use), had to upgrade the brake system in the end. They are in general reliable cars and better priced than their german/italian counterparts but are not intended for hard use, its then when the problems start. And this general rule seems to apply to the GT-R (break and tire wear, transmission temperature and failure, ect)

Re: Nissan GT-R test in Sport Auto

Cheap does not necessarily mean poor quality. A car can be cheap for what it provides. Some may say it has good value. One thing I do know is that the 911 line of cars are not in the expensive category at least I don't believe Porsche would want the public to believe that.

I suspect  Porsche management would love a Porsche in every garage. They are certainly working hard at it.Smiley Their cookie cutter cars are ubiquitous in California.

FWIW, I believe Ferrari would love to be in Porsches shoes. However, I am not sure its customers/clients would agree.SmileySmiley

Joe, the former US CEO of Porsche claimed several times that Porsche was all about PERFORMANCE/VALUE. I did not make that up.

Since when has offering value been the same thing as being cheap? Smiley

This must have been one of Nick´s stellar moments on this board. I do not know about his intentions of his reasoning but they are indeed entertaining.

The car being tested featured, as mentioned, chassis modifications that should be helpful on such a flat and tight track as Hockenheim´s short circuit. Nonetheless it was slower than the GT2 which should make a difference on the Nürburgring. On top of that, the later has lower weight and considerably better brakes so I just cannot see these two cars on one performance level.

It is still worth noting that both on this forum and by SportAuto journalists, the GT-R´s performance is compared to the GT2, the most powerful, expensive and performant model Porsche has currently on offer and less so to the Turbo or, price-wise, similiar Carrera models. The fact that there are offers with comparable performance, be it GM´s Z06 & ZR-1, the Audi R8 or this particular product from Nissan, puts a lot of pressure on Porsche, Lamborghini or Ferrari. The question remains, was it any different in the past?

The reason why the GTR is sometime compared to the GT2 is very plain and simple: too many gullible people have been mislead by the Nissan marketing stories. Using the brain sometimes helps. Car manufacturers want your money = be cautious about what they claim Smiley A GTR has nothing in common with a GT2. These cars are in two different leagues. Frankly, if the GTR (customer cars, tested by SportAuto) was as quick as the 997TT FL (which will be available at approximately the same point in time when GTR will be delivered to first central European customers) I would be surprised.
