    Is cayenne shrinking?

    Look at this picture.
    Is the upcoming cayenne smaller or it's an optical illusion created by the different styling?

    it seems sportier

    and well,looks smaller then the current one..but i think it's only due to the look..

    Maybe it looks smaller since it doesn't have the silver trim pieces or roof rack??

    i say narrower and smaller - not a lot of weight reduction though unless they really take ou the off road aspect.

    i bet it will be heavy and gas consumption not reduced that much except that engine sizes may be reduced.

    Maybe the off road aspect will become optional, like the current mercedes ML that the transfer box with low range gears is not standard equipment anymore. This saves weight for people that will never venture off road.
    A permanent AWD will lots of electronic aids is enough for 99% of luxury SUV buyers.

    Car magazine in the article below talk about about the latest Taureg for 2010 sharing the same platform with the next gen cayenne with a 50mm length increase..

    The next Cayenne will be slightly bigger...but because it looks more muscular it seems like it's a bit smaller. That's why some photographer thought at first that he made the first pictures of a "Baby-Cayenne".

    Next Cayenne increases slightly in size, interior room will benefit.

    thanks for the effort to get the data out of the pictures !

    Our Landcruiser is a 7 seater, do we ever use it? (apart from taking the seats out when we go camping) indeed no. It is very unconfortable seating and impossible to be for a longer time. I tried the X5 seven seater as well, just a gimmic not very useful at all. Just a thought

    We use the back seat in our Q7 about 8 weeks a year when familiy visits...

    A Cayenne with small seats in the back would be IDEAL, could swap two cars for one.

    In my country 7 seaters are very popular, because you can "return" your VAT in accordance with our legislation... Smiley

    Something more - there is a whole "industry" here for modifying normal cars into 7-seaters...
