    Re: Source of sales

    Misha011:

Some people are left-handed some are right-handed , some people need 'hand controls'  (pics. below) and can have only one hand on the steering wheel , left or right - depends in which country they live .... etc. etc.

So why not have two sets of controls for everything for left-handed and right-handed drivers? Because it's confusing and creates superfluous duplication.

    Re: Source of sales

Le Chef, you have made your point very clearly over the last 6 months. IMO this  debate should stop because it is a repetition of the same old arguments and adds nothing new.

Obviously some people like the PDK interface, some do not and some are neutral about it or don't mind it.

There are arguments for and against which have been well put forward and clearly spelled out.

The Panamera will use the same interface and it seems the new Cayenne too. So this is the way Porsche want to do things. You either like it or leave it and buy another car if you want automatic.

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there that counts

    Re: Source of sales

Anything new on whether Porsche will come out with a Paddle Option with PDK?   In looking at the Panamera, it seems that button interface is carried over.    Also, day to day, how often do you use the buttons or paddles?

    Re: Source of sales

seems that no paddles will be done by porsche. look at the panamera.....
    --
Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

    Re: Source of sales

The Panamera is proof of nothing other than automatic drivers will be happy doing the occasional manual shift, but are more likely to leave their car in "D". We probably (if ever) won't see proper paddles before PDK is fitted to the GT3. A steering wheel with proper paddles might be standard on that car and become an option on all other cars.

    Re: Source of sales

Too bad. I only use paddle on my Aston, nevr in "D".

I tried the puddles on a FL 911 and hated it. A real dealbreaker IMHO.

    Re: Source of sales

I test drove a V8 Vantage Sportshift with paddles at the weekend.  Terrible gearbox but great interface so precisley the opposite of PDK!  Wasn't blown away by the car as a whole either - thought it would be more of an event driving it.  Getting back into my 986S, which is now over 5 years old, really showed how precise and sharp the Porsche responses are.

    Re: Source of sales

Agree. The gearbox in the AMV8 is awful. Even the dealer told me I would be much better off with the manual. Still, it had paddles...

    Re: Source of sales

The AM transmission has a steep learning curve. A test drive will not show its real possibilities. I LOVE mine.

    Re: Source of sales

So, it appears that if I must have paddles, that I should not wait, but rather go aftermarket.
