EU Regulation for car mirrors
Has anyone read this new EU Legislation which is forcing car makers to fit truck sized mirrors to small cars? I'd love to learn on what criteria the size of these new mirrors is calculated(window surface/overall size of the car/...) The reason why I'm asking is that, apparently, not all 2008 models are affected by this regulation, or at least know how to dodge it. Take a look at this
A3
vs. A3 FL
997
vs. 997 FL
Seems clear to me that these 2008 models have had their deal of mirror enlargment (sadly enough). What struck me was that VW's latest models, for example the Sirocco and the Passat CC (both 2008 models), weren't affected by the hideous consequences of this EU regulation.
Let me show you: Sirocco
VW Passat CC
And not only VW's sportier models seem unfazed, even the new Golf VI has far more elegant mirrors than its Audi sibling... And why does for example the facelift BMW E9x M3 gets away with the same small mirrors as his 2007 brother?
Is there away to sidestep those regulations? Has anyone yet found this legislation on the internet? If so, I'd love to read it.
