I can tell you, for sure that the " Tubi " system is being developed for 997.2; and should be super ! The new 997's are really quiet, and need some more tone, quality; for sure ....... The new 997's exhaust system is totallly different, with cat's on the end of the headers; like a collector. There is a pipe that conects both mufflers, that was never there, before. The mufflers themselves are new , also. I have a very strong feeling that there will be large power and response gains with the new " Tubi " system ! It's probably a couple months away. You might want to wait for it !
Arshad:
Fitting an aftermarket exhaust voids your warranty, as I was told when I drove into my OPSC for a service in my Boxster which had an aftermarket cat-back exhaust!
It might be worth speaking to your OPC for clarification of how things are handled in your part of the world. Alternatively, you could re-fit the original every time you take the car in to your OPSC.
If you do decide to go for after-market, I would advise going in for cat-back mufflers. They will give you the desired sound, are most cost-effective, will not trigger off the CEL, and will be easiest to remove in case you decide to go back to original before service.
Of course, the money-no-object choice would be to go in for the PSE in April, as Reginos suggested.
Guess it depends. My OPC installed the tubi on my 997 Turbo Cab, it doesn't void the warranty. Even doing an IPD plenum doesn't effect the warranty w/ them either, he installed that for me as well but they said an ECU would be an issue.
I had the PSE on my 997 S Cab but if I did it again I'd go w/ an after-market system that also adds HP/Tq instead of just adding to the sound.
Nice car mdrums !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After market cat back DOES NOT void your warranty on anything. Don;t let them pull that BS on you. I have had Fabspeed on my last 2 997S cars with out any warranty issues.
I hear Fabspeed and Sharkwerks is working on an exhaust for the 997.2 but I thought that since the 09's have been out longer in Europe and other country's I'd see if anyone has done an exhaust mod to a 09.
Yeah the 09 is WAY too quiet with absolutly ZERO sports car sound. HORRIBLE and I need my fix.
see you all, Mike

mawyatt:Yes I had Fabspeed exhasut on my 06 and 07 997S and loved it. However the exhaust on the new 09 is totally idfferent and the old 05-08 mufflers will not fit. So far no one have done a hack to the stokc system or Fabspeed has not come out with a system yet.
I've had Fabspeed exhaust and EVO headers on my 997TT for well over a year without issue. Like the sound, the way the stock 997TT should sound.

I would be willing to bet that in Dubai it does. You can't make a blanket statement that it never voids a warranty anywhere in the world. Of course in the USA we have laws that protect us to a certain extent, and an exhaust change is fairly benign, and would likely have no impact on a warranty claim.

Thanks, Michael - I just didn't want to get into any argument, and besides it was interesting for me to realise that it DOESN'T void the warranty in the US!
This time however, I have learnt from my previous experience, and have ordered my new 997.2 with PSE, and am willing to wait till April before I take delivery of it.
Well I am going with the new Fabspeed side muffler by pass pipes. This will retain the center muffler only. Fabspeed will have a performance center muffler out after the new year. I will save around 50lbs of weight.
I double checked with my Porsche dealer and after market mufflers will not void the warranty of the car and or engine.
I am sure the new PSE for this car will sound nice just like the old PSE but PSE is very heavy and offer zero performance gains. I am into the "sport" of sport cars and thus want a free flowing light weight system.
Good for you, mdrums. I speak also from first hand experience, as I had fitted after-market mufflers for my Boxster, and when I went in for a service, the Porsche service supervisor saw the muffler and acted as if I had had an affair with his wife!! He went into overdrive and proceeded to void my warranty, and told me that any repairs from then on would have to be paid for. Of course I went ballistic, and took it up with the Porsche Middle East GM. But the end result was that he still supported his service supervisor's claim, but 'allowed' me to refit the original mufflers at their cost, and then kept my warranty as it was. That's why this time I am going for the PSE, not out of personal choice. As I said before, it is interesting for me to find out that it doesn't void the warranty in other markets like the US. Just thought Porsche AG would have had consistent policies about warranties worldwide, so I thought I would warn you when I did. Sorry if my information was not relevant to your market.
I totally concur that an aftermarket muffler setup does reduce weight, and if I could, I would have never paid nearly 3 times the price for the PSE.
