    Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

    Hello guys,

I am sure this topic has been covered extensively in varios posts, but unfortunately after searching for quite some time the only information that I have got is that the new 997 TT will have 500 bhp and no PDK.

I was wondering what other differences it will have to the current TT (apart from the obvious LEDs and touchscreen system). How will the body change and is the engine a complete redesign with 40% less moving parts like the new Carrera models? Will the tip be improved at all?

    Also, when is it due?

Again, sorry if it has already been discussed I just couldnt find anything.

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

There is not too much detail available about the 997TT FL so far.

    Personally, I expect the following:

    - 500hp

    - revised suspension/AWD setup (target: good Supertest result on the NBR...)

    - PDK

    - Launch mid or 2nd half of 2009 Smiley

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

The info I got from a Porsche tester is :

997 TT manual or PDK with about 500 PS

997 TTS only PDK  with slighly more then 500 PS

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

Hopefully, new wheels also, since the Carerra/CarreraS facelift both got new wheels.

    997 TTS + PDK + 530PS (also info from Stuttgart ;-)) )

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

    Intro-IAA 2009. Press intro summer 2009.

    As turbosteff said:

    997.2 Turbo 500ps(manual or PDK)

    997.2 Turbo S 530ps(PDK only)

According to my info both versions will be introduced at the same time(PCCBs standard on Turbo S)...

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

    ....sounds good!

Hopefully we see PASM Sport as an option...Smiley

Kreso, they will not launch a "S" version with 530hp in 2009:

    - Same hp output as current GT2, this will never happen.

    - 997TT will be produced in 2010 and 2011 still - they need another update shortly before end of production (see their strategy in case of the 996TTS).

This is my speculation of what will happen (this, BTW, is also consistent with the infos turbosteff got):

    - 997TT FL in 2009 (500hp, PDK, new PTM/suspension setup)

    - 997TTS in Q3 or Q4 2010 (520hp-530hp) plus (this is speculation only) GT2 Mk2 (550hp, Mk2 would then be launched 3 years after Mk1 - which is consistent with Porsche's recent FL strategy). This would  help selling these cars with the 998 lurking around the corner... (998 will be lanched in 2011, right).

    What do you think?  Smiley

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

Hummmm..., my bet is the TT facelift will incorporate an even larger wing and _possibly_ spinner wheels.

Since there's nowhere to go but _up_ for the current overdone unnecessary wing, and nowhere to go but _3D_ for the current slatty wheels, here's my prediction for what they'll look like (photo below).

Of course if the HP goes up I will be robotically activated (i.e. sexually aroused) to purchase and operate the newest bling-whore FL unit.

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

    Markus,

According to my source there will be the same scenario as with FL Cayenne-we will have 997.2 Turbo and Turbo S models. Regarding 997.2 GT2-things here are interesting since this car is not approved yet by P board... BUT, I hope they will build it!

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

I'm ready to order as soon as the MY10 order guide is out, but I doubt IMHO the TurboS will debut at the same time as the FL Turbo with DI.

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

There is a 997 Turbo & Turbo S scenario possible but right now, I don't think that the final decision has been taken yet. I took a 5 year lease for my 997 Turbo back in June 2006, now take a guess why. Smiley

I think that the 991 Turbo will be the hell of a successor if the financial crisis doesn't affect project funding too much.

Porsche earned in this year a lot of money for devolpmente classic product 911! I hope Panamera will sale well  for the stability of Porsche. Like said Marchionne "Porsche is a hedge fund that makes also nice cars :) "

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

The problem is that Porsche already took a deep dive on the US market and it isn't going to get better next year. The Panamera comes at a pretty bad time in my opinion. To be honest, I would postpone this car by another year to give it some design overhaul.

I agreed and very true about the dive. The pain is palpable and spirit very much deflated based on my recent visits and conversations at 3 local Porsche dealers in Los Angeles. For the first time in many years the sales people are scared.

As a die-hard Porsche fan, I hope PAG has been saving enough "ammunition" to survive this dip. I am already excited about 991.

Considering what we have seen happen to investment banks during the last few months, I was a little surprised at the way you expressed the conclusion you have arrived at. Smiley

Porsche's startling financial results in the last two fiscal years are just a freak situation arising from the ongoing buy-out of VW, and cannot be expected to be repeated ad infinitum.

To come out on top after the current recession, Porsche will have to ensure that both its own and, in future, the VW group's products are saleable even against a strong head-wind.

Wouldn't be too wrong. They could downsize it a bit, the Audi Q5 would be a good basis to start on. Unfortunately the Cayenne successor is already out of the ordinary planning process, so it is going to be very difficult to make substantial changes to the timeline I suppose.

The low fuel prices could actually give the Cayenne a little "push" but I doubt that the low oil prices will stay forever. Maybe next year, the barrell oil could fall below 30 USD but I suppose after that, it will start to rise again and if the financial crisis will be over in a couple of years...well... Everything depends on the USA and China in my opinion.

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

Financially Porsche is in a good position to ride out this "perfect storm". The dealers will suffer though. Agree that the timing for thePanarama is far from perfect, but it is so close to production, I assume it would also cost $$ to change the production schedule. Who knows. Because of what's happened, my plans to upgrade have been put on hold for at least 12 months, maybe a lot longer.

Re: Turbo Facelift, info and pics?

A lot of Porsche dealerships will go down the drain along this financial crisis if Porsche doesn't help them in a way or another. Right now even I am thinking of reducing my Porsche garage to one Porsche only and I still don't know if it is going to be the Panamera or if I'll keep my 997 Turbo and just sell the Cayenne Turbo S. We need a family car but I also need a car I can drive to work with. The 997 Turbo is actually the car I hardly use right now and from a financial point of view, it makes sense to give it away. My heart however is telling me something else... Smiley

WOW. I can't imagine life without my Turbo. Even though I'm an amateur driving on public roads, it seems that life as I know it would end if I sold it.

Maybe there's a way to get the gov't to bail you out; maybe even get them to pay for the maintenance costs. Smiley
