I know most will think I'm wrong , but everybody here love this car so much they can't admit the sound is like old pickup truck desil engine. There is so much ugly rattle noise if other people hear it they will think it's beat up old car from junk yard. No offence guys . I'm a Porsche owner for a while , I always had hope the next Porsche will sound better, but they never change .

Maybe you haven't noticed but at low RPMs ALL Boxer engines make a similar sound. You need to wait until you reach a higher RPM until the flat 6 makes that glorious note.

I'm not talking about sound while driving , the exhaust can do the trick, but I'm talking about engine on idle or low rpm (listen to the last video).

I dont know 997tt youre talking about. 997tt sounds really the worst , on idle it sounds like loose parts vaibrating and on high rpm it sounds like a lowed vacume cleaner.

The 997 TT especially the S model has so many redeeming features that the admittetly poor sound is only a minor drawback, IMO. 'I've had the chance to drive one on a winding mountain route with lots of blind bends, bad cambers, less than perfect surface at places etc. and I came out so impressed with the car's speed and stability and interaction,that the drive is still on my mind after some months now. And I drive a Carrera S normally not a Polo. This Turbo S is a car worth every cent of its huge €180K because it is superfast and utterly usable.

It's been said many times that a turbo flat 6 cannot sound like a normally aspirated multi cylinder engine. The customer can choose what he wants according to his priorities.

OK, I like the color. Not sure about the sun roof ... it's part of the aerodynamic package? Does that mean it opens suddenly under heavy braking?

I heard that the new sun roof is part of the spoiler and aerodynamic concept. Dont know exactly how it works but based on speed it will move up and down.

So how would that work when it's raining? Smiley

Don't know if this info has been posted earlier but got it's confirmed from a reliable source.

991 will have 100mm longer wheel base and will be overall 60 mm longer than 997.

991 will be 60 mm wider both Front and Rear than current 997 narrow body. This means that the new 991 will be 16mm wider than existing wide-body in the back and 60mm wider in the front!

991 will be 40kg ligther than equivalent 997

7:40 NBR-time for Carrera S with standard tires.

15% better fuel consumption. 199g/co2 for Carrera base model.

7-speed manual/7-speed PDK

Top-view camera for parking help will be option.
Burmester sound will be option. BOSE will be discontinued.
20" wheels standrad on S-models with
Adaptive cruisecontrol will be option.

Nothing new, but nice summary of what has been posted earlier last month. BTW, the 'Ring time is 7:37, 7:40 was a skewed time from a certain magazine.

Sure, they would have tested it for its ability to withstand aerodynamic forces to make sure it didn't develop an independent streak during a fast run on the Autobahn, but using a sunroof's spoiler effect to optimise the car's aerodynamics would mean that you accept that the car's characteristics are less good when the sunroof is closed, which it normally would be at very high speeds. Smiley
