Hi guys! I'm new to this forum, so please be patient with my newbie questions.
Do you know what will be the price range for the new 991 Carrera S?? Similar to actual Carrera S or 10% more expensive or what do you think!?!?!
Thanks a lot for your help and comments

I agree a928. The door opener is actually the same one found in the Cayenne and Panamera, and presumably the next Boxster/Cayman. I don't think the center console is too bad, because it isn't as bloated as the Panamera's, but the section below the screen, WAY too many buttons! They should have done it Carrera GT style, i.e, knobs for the heat/AC instead of buttons. In general, I don't know how Porsche can make an interior as gorgeous as the Carrera GT's, and then base the 991's interior on the Panamera. No, the Panamera is a luxury sedan, the 911 is a sports coupe. They should have just done an evolution of the 997 interior, the 997 interior was perfection.
I really wish they would have made the center console a direct inspiration from the Carrera GT, instead of a watered down bloated interpretation.
fully agree - carrera..anyway- I will stay with the 997 GTs for a while..besides, one thing that is certainly not better with the 991 compared to a 997 GT Model is the engine...I drove the 385HP version a few months ago..it lacks absolutely some punch..above 4000rpm nothing is happening anymore..the new 400hp version for the 991- well - I suppose a normal person would not be able to feel the difference bewteen the 385 and 400hp...
I will upgrade to 997 GT3MKII or 997 GT2 soon...decision is taken in the next days..

Original topic of this thread is engine in the 991 GT3 - really ... and BTW that was a speculating , as well .
You are right - that was not the original topic.
Someone changed the thread title a couple of times during the last 144 pages.
WTF is that all about?I thought Rennteam's software had been changed to disable random title changes partway through threads?
That's not the thread topic, that's the topic of somebodys post in the thread a long way back and people keep pressing the reply button without changing the topic.
There was a time when it was the thread topic and only a mod could alter it mid-thread.
Handsome though you may be, Palenimbus, allowing the introduction of a new "Subject" heading for each post makes a nonsense of the real thread heading and makes it even more likely that threads go off-topic than it already was in the past.

Fully agree . It does not make sense. Eunice , or another mod, would you look into that ?

Nothing new... just in silver...
It looks boring and in the third pic even out of proportion. I hope it is just a bad angle for taking the photo.

looks like a 996 imo...
My exact Thought as soon as I saw the side view.
Me three!!!!
So much so!
still curious what they're going to do with the front lighting arrangement -- if it will be off center and Hyundai-like above the air vents then they'll change it for the mid-cycle face lift?

The 991 looks kind of boring to me in these latest shots. Little different in overall appearance from the 997 but with less attractive front. The interior with Panamera style centre console looks more modern but quite claustrophobic.
Lets hope the performance makes up for it!

Porsche made a car to the exact design specifications of what most 911 owners want. Basically that means producing exactly the same car....but slightly modernized ("slightly" being the operative word).
I can still recall the mayhem and wrath that I incurred when I (foolishly) suggested that the 911 design be brought up to date. There was fire and brimstone!
Having said all that, I must say that I quite like of what I have seen of the 991. I like the proportions, its sleekness, and both the rear and the front. (NB: all this in context of a 911)

i stay with my opinon - not evelutionary enough and looks just like a big faceliftBut that's exactly what evolutionary means.
You got me with my wording - but that's not what I meant!
Lets bring it to the point - I want to have an evolution like from the 993 to the 996 and not like from the 996 to the 997. It seems that Porsche design taylors down to the VW emotional level. Getting so boring. The USP of the myth goes more and more.
And - just to add one thing - the 996 was clearly inspired by the 959 and the Panamericana prototype of those days. So - where is the inspiration for the 991? The 918, The Carrera GT? Unfortunatley I dont see any of those elements in the car - maybe a bit of the Carrera GT in the tail lights as well the claustrophopic interior.

I think that the fact that the changes made to each new generation of 911 are so "evolutionary" (read "minimal) cause people to over-analyse those changes.

Might be - still think the changes from the 993 to the 996 have been very radical compared to now.
The competitors have been growing enormous over the last couple of years. Every mass producer offers cars in this power range and they have great designs which are in the 2011 era, too. Further on - brands like Aston or Ferrari became drivable and reliable as every day cars. In your cars card deck the 911 will not be a winner anymore - to many other cars are faster, stronger, bigger engine, etc. The technical aspect especially the electronical evolution went strongly further (beside with Porsche) BMW is the clear market leader there.
Its time to bring the clear move forward to catch up in any dimensions. The 991 will be the bit faster, stronger, etc. it needs to compete but already sure - it will not be a leader. Technically the VW influence might help - lets see what comes. The exuse "its a sports car - doesnt need the gimmick" doesnt count in this price range as especially the sports car buyers are gadget boys and they want to have those.
Porsche was living its myth for long - hope it will not completly die in the mass production and product variance. Tthe Panamera and Cayenne - totally de-mythed cars - no special image or focus on the street (maybe some negative but not the little boys dream car). The boxster and Caymen never had it anyway. The cornerstone is the 911 and always will be and if they ruin this then that's it.
They say - legends never die, but hope that the 991 not mutates to an hero as they only get remembered but of course will die some day!
