Well, with the first introduction of ceramic brakes on a porsche, there were some horrifying stories about the short lifespan of the brake disc/pads. If I recall correctly it had something to do with unsufficient cooling capabilities when brakes weren't used properly (I understood it was better for their life to brake hard and short than to brake long and soft). The result was excessive wear, and discussions appeared about when to worry about your brakediscs, and in my memory, one of the indications of wore down brakedsics was cracks running through multiple ventholes.
Any of the more knowledgeble members here to clarify or to refresh my memory?

You pretty much got it spot on Joost.
As for the original poster, I will say that with ANY cross drilled disc, it should be replaced if there are cracks that link 3 or more holes.
Re: "Is this happening with Porsche too?" Yes, it happened many years ago when they released the first generation of ceramic discs.
It seams that Audi doesn't care much about the security of their costumers, (my dealer sent photo's and a detailed description and received a reply saying that they don't see any problem)
The car is still under warranty, so they are trying to save $$$$. I was quoted 7000 euros + 20% VAT just for the pair of front brake rotors.
Audi says that the Ceramic Brakes last 4x longer .... longer than what??
Don't get me wrong I love my car but this is ridiculous.
