Gnil,
Several questions about the PDK and your experience with it.
First, did you have to get an optional steering wheel to get the shift buttons on the steering wheel?
Second, I realize that the PDK takes a while to get used to, that is, to become familiar with how it works. I heard one report, in the Porsche Club of America magazine "Panorama," that when using the button shifter and in the Sport performance mode that you feel a noticeable shuddering, or a "clunking", when shifting from one gear to another takes place. Is this true and does this affect your concentration when driving and shifting?
Third, is the use of the shift buttons awkward or inconvenient, and do you think you will get used to it as you become more familiar with operating the buttons? I am particularly concerned with the downshifts, where you use your index finger to press the shift button towards you, because I have smaller hands. If the wheel is too thick and if I cannot reach the buttons easily, that would make it difficult for me to use.
I had thought of getting another 911S with the PDK as I could perform faster shifts when taking my car to the track for informal racing/driver education sessions, as I don't like taking my hands off the wheel during turns. I am getting better at that but thought that the PDK would really help me improve lap times at the track.
Thanks for any information you might be able to share.
Jim
