Any Specs?

Happy Driving
Ron,
Here is what can(!) be posted.
R8 V10
5204ccm/V10 Dry sump high reving FSI
386kw/525ps
540Nm
315km/h-320km/h max
0-100km/h: below 4.0s
Current info is that RS5 will feature 580ps RS6 5.0L V10 biturbo TFSI. This is not fully confirmed yet. This engine also features true dry sump system(in both RS6 and in forthcoming RS5).
Next new engines that I saw in Gyor(but, no pics) are 2.5L R5 turbo(two stage) TFSI with 340ps/450Nm and 4.0L V8 with kompressor TFSI with 395ps/over 550Nm...
Production of R8 V10 is already started. I have pics from production line but, I can not post them yet.

Thank Kreso
So...what aboutthe 4.2 V8 450hp for the RS5?
It is still an option. Marketing wizzards will decide very soon...
450hp is upper limit for 4.2L high reving FSI. Personally, I think that this engine is better choice for RS5 then 5.0L TFSI V10. BUT, we will see... First new R8 V10, then TT-R with 2.5L R5 TFSI. That is coming first from quattro Gmbh...
First, just confirmed-new RS5 will get V8 100% for sure.
Downsizing... New S4 engine is pure example of that. Much, much lower CO2 emissions that S5 V8 engine. Power is not the same 3.0TFSI is available in tow versions: 290ps(for A6) and 333ps(for S4 and engines are different in some way). S5 current 4.2 FSI is with 354ps little bit more powerfull.
Do not forget that both S4 and S5 are not aimed against M3 or C63 AMG.

So Audi decided for rs5 a V8 challenge vs bmw m3......thanks for the info
KresoF1:Kreso, this engine will be in TT RS ? Do you have any information when it will be available and maybe expected time on Nordschleife or maybe 0 - 100, 0 - 200 ? Thanx

Shakal:it seems yes on tt rs. what about RS3?no possibility to see thin engine inside?

@Kreso: How do you rate the new S4 compared to the 335i (and 330i), particularly the supercharged vs. turbo engine? Have you driven any of those?
Do you know if the S5 will get the new V6 engine too?
I did not drive new S4 yet. According to my friend who drove it in Spain S4 is very good car indeed. His favourite spes are manual, Drive Select and Sport Diff. Avoid Active Dampers and Dynamic Steering according to his impression. New 7 Speed S Tronic is mixed bag since because of extra gear it is slower in 0-100km/h and =-160km/h then manual. Also it is very close to PDK in overall feel, minus Sport Plus programm.
I tried 335i, both manual and auto, both cuope and limo. I like it a lot and engine is pretty responsive for turbo engine. With 19" runflats and sport suspension it is little bit too stiff overall for town driving. 335i is great car for the money. Personally, I would go for S5 for little bit more money(with same equioment level on my market).
330i? Not bad, just no match overall for 335i...
S5 will probably get V6 TFSI at the end of 2009. BUT, we will see since Audi's idea is to market A5/S5 as upper class models in comparison with A4/S4.
KresoF1:with 3 coupé facelift power update for 335i to 326hp

KresoF1:That is good news. IMO the V10 is too much weight for the RS5 which needs to avoid being heavier than the S5 to be taken seriously. Audi needs to focus on weight (well, so do all the German companies) more than they have, and fewer cylinders is a reasonable trade-off especially if the engine character is more sporting.

Present: 2005 STi, 2002 M Coupe
Future: 2009 Cayman S - pending; 2010? Audi RS5 ??
KresoF1:Good choice, as tempting as the RS6 engine might be in the A5 model, it would make the car very heavy on the front end, it would be faster/equally fast as the R8 V10 and it would contradict Audi´s intention to downsize the respective model variants.

KresoF1:oh..500ps...a big problem for e92 m3...
RS5 V8? 450ps 4.2L FSI is already tested and ready. BUT, Audi is testing 4.0L TFSI Biturbo(version of forthcoming 390ps 4.0L TFSI Kompressor engine) with about 500ps...

Also, 500hp + Kompressor = superior low-rev torque AND superior high-rev power
MKSGR:Biturbo will have both 1 turbo and 1 kompressor?

Kreso, When is the official introduction of the Audi R8 V10..
Does it have the same gearbox (updated software) as the new Gallardo
I already answered in another thread.
Intro Detroit 2009. First costumer cars April 2009 in Germany, rest of Europe summer 2009. USA autumn 2009.
Regarding optional R Tronic yes, R8 V10 will use pretty similar although more refined setup. Just, much better choice in this case is manual version.

andrea:BMW just announced they will step away from NA M-engines... they just can't keep up. Their 335i is almost on par with their M3. They need to turbo them or whatever they do, but the first new M-engine will be in the X5 or X6. Then in the new M5!
