They look configurator images for the upcoming facelifted 987 models.
Some more pictures here that were posted some time back. They coincide with the present ones.
They will appear Q2 2009. Cayman will have some 10-15HP more than Boxster to justify some price difference.
Basic Boxster will be non-DI 250HP 2.9lt. Top Cayman 320HP.
I like the front end, but still have not warmed up to the drooping tail lights. Also, I was hoping for an additional 25hp, instead of 15 hp, and am a bit disappointed that they are limiting the 320hp engine to the Cayman S. Sorry to complain as at least it is a step in the right direction.

the looks are pretty unchanged - i wonder if it gets a dfi engine and new block like the 911. they finally ridded the design of the RMS/IMS failures.
w/o the totally new engine, it should not hit the current version too hard in $. if the new engine is there, we get clobbered a lot more imo.
bought to have fun though, not sit in the garage and minimize depreciation. another way to look at it - you can use it and loose it somewhat, or give it to your broker, loose it and have NO FUN with it!

Yes, the facelifted Boxster S should get the new engine design with dfi, whereas the base Boxster will not get an updated engine without dfi. As for the RMS/IMS issues, they have been virtually resolved in later 987's, and unfortunately do not be surprised if new gremlins appear in the newly redesigned engine. I believe it will be increased horsepower and better fuel economy that will be the big draw to the 987.2. Hopefully, I am hoping that Porsche will eventually offer the same horsepower on the Boxster S (expected 310hp), as the Cayman S (expected 320 hp), as they do with their closed and open 911's.vincesf
